~FOA FOA WINS IMMUNITY~

I have been waiting for this episode…I wanted to get better acquainted with Galu, and now that I have, I find it hard to believe that these are the same people that won immunity 3 weeks in a row. I am not impressed, but I must say that there were some memorable moments for both tribes this week…Erik finding the immunity idol, the chicken flying the coop, and the best, of course, is FOA FOA winning their first immunity challenge!!!

Foa Foa had the reward challenge in the bag, but Dave “humbly” pulled out the win for Galu with his final throw…So once again, Mick’s tribe returned to camp empty handed, and Galu returned to camp with a chicken coop and three chickens. Meanwhile, Erik was diligent in his quest to find the hidden immunity idol, and now it’s his. Yasmin, why didn’t you think of that? You had to know that Shambo had an additional clue…Oh yea! You were trying to take a nap. As I type this, I am still shaking my head in disbelief…

What the heck was Shambo thinking? I said it several times before, and I’ll say it again…This woman is self-destructive, her own nightmare in this game. It kills me how she seems so clueless about the idiotic things she does…Umm like giving Erik and John the clues for the hidden immunity idol. Hey Shambo, did you hear the logic? Better yet, did you hear Erik say that he’d give it to you if you “needed” it? This should be your idol, and I hate to break it to you, but you need it!!! Why wasn’t your butt looking for it in the first place? John was just as bad…It may have just been editing, but IMO, John showed a lack of competitive drive when he “laid” there, watched Erik look for it, and then, had the audacity to turn over and keep resting!! What the @#*%!! If that were me, I would have been right on his tail, riding it if I had to! All I can say is, “It really doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist”…LOL!

Damn Erik…Did that hurt?

Has anyone else noticed that this has turned from the BRussell Show to the Shambo Show? Erik finds the hidden idol and gets clipped by a clothesline, yet he got a fraction of her camera time…And who left Shambo alone with the chickens? I guess she got excited about becoming one with live poultry, and she let one out. You must have speed and quick reflexes to catch a chicken, which she clearly lacks, and apparently, Shambo didn’t know that they could fly…That didn’t faze me nearly as much as her taking credit for “producing” an egg. What? Girrrl, PLEASE! The woman has proven to be a liability when it comes to feeding the tribe, and I really appreciate Erik’s patience when dealing with her. I like this guy!!

If Foa Foa had to lose, it was best to lose the reward and walk away with immunity. What a huge morale booster, and as much as I would like to discuss their morale, Jaison’s in particular, I want this blog to focus more on Galu. I don’t know what was more shocking…GRussell’s “King” like attitude or the tribe’s reaction to his demands …Where did that come from? I thought he was the nice guy! He has made some questionable decisions, and if he’s not careful, he’ll be one of the next to go. I’ve got to agree with him though…I’ll take a strong competitor over “cutesy” any day in the game of Survivor. In the end, Galu determined that Yasmin’s lack of contribution at camp outweighed Shambo’s eccentricities and Monica’s poor performance, and Yasmin was voted out. Yeah!! Bye Bye Yas…At least you were dressed for the occasion!!

Will Foa Foa win immunity next week? Who will Galu send home next? Who should BRussell align with in his mission for final two… Jaison or Natalie?

FOA FOA’S “Mental Plague” Is Voted Off Samoa Island

I was really looking forward to blogging about fresh personalities and a different perspective this week, but for a 3rd time, Foa Foa fails to win immunity. (Sigh…I don’t know about you, but I am fed up, no pun intended) Nevertheless, last night’s episode did manage to offer some insight to Galu, provide an outsider with a welcoming temporary home, eliminate a plague, and bring someone other than BRussell to the forefront.

Will we ever get to know Galu? We’ve had little exposure to the dynamics of the Galu tribe, and it limits our point of view. If we listen to Shambo, they are oblivious to their surroundings and are more like a “yoga practicing 90210 click”, but I don’t trust the perception of a self-proclaimed sword-fishing expert who put swamp wading over the welfare of her tribe. It’s unbelievable to me that Shambo claims to be the provider of her tribe…She actually said, “I’m not doin’ the warm and fuzzy, I’m doin’ the Rambo Shambo provider role out here.” Really? Hey Shambo, got Fish? Give me a break…I’m willing to bet that while she was complaining on camera and the four members were doing Yoga, the five others were out getting water, firewood, and food. Whatever Galu is doing at camp, it’s obviously working for their team and, like it or not, Shambo continues to benefit from it, only she fails to recognize it.

GRussel on the other hand, is warm and fuzzy, especially toward the ladies, but this may be to his own demise. He tried to justify his decision for comfort over practicality, and the men of the tribe weren’t convinced. This decision just may come back to haunt him. However, GRussel’s best decision for both tribes may have been the person he chose to visit the opposing camp.

Foa Foa – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly…

Shambo is the 2nd member of Galu to visit Foa Foa, and it seems to me that she is on the wrong tribe. What a difference from Yasmin!! She was more than “warm and fuzzy” with this tribe and was a hit with both Natalie and Ashley, who simply loved her…She was sociable, brought positive energy, was very complimentary to Liz, flirty with “MickDreamy” and “bright eyed Ben” (her words not mine), and received an approval nod from Jaison. Good for you Shambo! Notice whose name is missing here? BRussell’s facial expression spoke volumes, and I’m guessing the feeling was mutual.

A new star is born and his name is Jaison…At the top of the show, he labeled Ben as a “Mental Plague on the tribe”, made his intentions known, followed through, and successfully executed his plan to vote him off the island. Ben had alienated Ashley, and it was easy for Jaison to rely upon the sensitivity of her and Natalie. Of course, threatening to quit didn’t hurt either…I’m thinkin’ it’s a good thing they didn’t call his bluff. Russell is building trust between he and Mick, or so it seems, and at Ben’s expense, he made an effort to solidify his trust with Jaison and all other tribe members by voting with the majority. Racism and/or the perception of racism is a reality, and no one has to tolerate it. This was Jaison’s motivation, and he clearly wanted to send a message. Hey Ben, I guess no one warned you about the dangers of quiet storms…Bye Bye, MickDreamy will be lighting the fires from now on!!!

Will Foa Foa be picked off one by one? Will Mick really prove to be a man of his word? Does Shambo have a chance at reuniting with her new found buddies? If so, will she meet the same fate as Betsy? ….and What’s next for Jaison?

Hoop Battles, Cheap Shots, Swamp Wading, and History In The Making

Episode 2 was well worth the wait. Schmergenbrawl, the reward/immunity challenge, was what I would describe as a cross between mud wrestling, football, and basketball. Galu defeats Foa Foa for the 2nd time, but not before Ben is ejected from the game for excessive play and unknowingly sets the tone for the day at camp…

…Who knew that getting charged and thrown several feet, elbowed, knocked in the head, yanked by the leg while in motion, and body slammed is more amicable than being tripped. Ben was not the worst offender…

…In any event, one less player cost his tribe much needed fishing gear and immunity, Mike was medically discharged, Betsy was sent home, and to top it all off, Galu member, Yasmin, accompanied Foa Foa to their camp and observed tribal council…It was bad enough listening to her whine at the beginning of the show (Where the @#*% did she think she was goin’…the Four Seasons?)…So listening to her “fraggle nackle bull” at the opposing camp was too much, and while I don’t condone Ben’s phrasing, I understand. Who does she think she is? I’m willing to bet this “diva’s” days are numbered. If (and that’s a big IF) she makes it to the merge, she will undoubtedly be one of the first, if not the first, to go.

Speaking of Galu, I think that “pretty boy” John may have comeback from his swimming debacle…Let’s congratulate him on making a point! Shambo, on the other hand, keeps digging her own grave…Last week she isolated herself by choosing not to bond with her tribe, and this week she alienated herself by proving to be more of a liability than an asset. Jeff Probst said, “If you can’t catch fish with this, GO HOME.” Well, Shambo is on her way, not because she “can’t” catch fish, but because she opted to back float in the swamp over fishing by the reefs where, according to her, there are “hundreds and thousands” of fish. What? She let her tribe down, and was nonchalant about breaking the equipment. She’s a bad decision maker and a big disappointment. Hey Shambo, the good news is that you weren’t elected tribal chief…the bad news is that Galu is sending you’re a@@ home…LOL!

The biggest Survivor is living up to my expectations and is history in the making. Ben was the first ever to be ejected from a challenge, and to my knowledge, no one has ever looked for and/or found the immunity idol before receiving a clue. Love him or hate him…Russell Hantz has got game. He is focused, never loses sight of his purpose, and is in game mode 24/7. Furthermore, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this is the first time a tribe has won fishing gear and failed to catch a single fish.

How will this weeks events affect next weeks camaraderie within the tribes? Who is next, Yasmin, Shambo, or Ben? Media hype or is Jaison really rallying the troops against “evil” Russell?

The jury is still out on whether there is indeed a “Puppet Master” among this season’s castaways…but there is definitely a snake, and he wasted no time in rearing his ugly head. That would be who? Why Russell Hantz of course. Love him or hate him, anyone would be hard-pressed to say that he doesn’t add interest and villainous entertainment value to the show.

I’ll admit that at first glance, I was set to dislike “evil” Russell, but his persona has always intrigued me. In fact, I couldn’t wait to see if he actually lived up to his own hype, let alone the media’s. I watched him in action during the premier, and I actually found myself smiling at a witty, cunning, mischievous, and perplexing “character”, who seemed to be in tuned to those around them.

Witty because his delivery is hilarious…Cunning because he successfully used Marissa’s suspicions of him to manipulate her early exit and save his current ally, Ashley…Mischievous and Perplexing because, like he said, he intends to play differently than anyone else has ever played. Can’t argue with him there…No one has ever tried to sabotage his/her entire tribe, and certainly not on the first day. What the heck was he doing? …Fabricating Hurricane Katrina woes, depleting the water supply, and burning Jaison’s socks…What will he do next?

Perhaps he’s not “evil”, just misunderstood? OK, I don’t believe that any more than you do, but after applying my analytical skills (too much reality TV has me thinkin’ I can actually get in their heads and my family should be very concerned if I get into this one), I think we all can agree that we all sympathize with Hurricane Katrina victims, and the loss of a beloved dog, or any pet for that matter, tugs at the heart of most people. However, this trumped up story makes Russell appear to be less intimidating, communicative, vulnerable, and approachable in the eyes of his tribe. Pouring out the water and burning the socks was an effort to manipulate the focus of his tribe members and create an environment of disruption and distrust.

After a summer of watching shallow, clueless, and less than attractive women on the inside (BB withdrawal takes time), Marissa was refreshing. She was astute enough not to fall for Russell’s bull, and had she held back a little and kept her “honesty” to herself, she’d still be in the game and Ashley would likely be on her way home. Who knows what “evil” Russell has in store for us in the weeks ahead. Will he be the next to go or is he in it for the long haul? I think he is enigmatic, and one thing is for sure, he will continue to be written about, talked about, and whenever he departs, he will certainly leave an impression upon this season and the game. He may just become the “one we love to hate”…America’s favorite even. I’m laughing, but anything is possible…

Russell H. has been dubbed “The Most Evil Castaway” in Survivor history…He says, “Call me the Puppet Master.” This season’s villain says he will play in a different manner than anyone else has ever played the game. He claims that it’s easy for him to read people, that he controls his job, family, and friends, and can easily make others think that they’re in control, when he is actually in control. Haven’t we heard that every year?

Russell H. has the key to survivor all figured out or does he? Perhaps he’s forgotten the old saying, “can’t judge a book by its cover.” Apparently he has formed an alliance with three beauties who he affectionately (sarcasm) calls his “Dumb Girl Alliance”…He actually refers to them as the “dumb short haired blond, an even dumber long haired blond, and a dark hair girl.” Some of you may be thinking…Is this BB or Survivor? Stop it and focus

Ashley, “the dumb short haired blond”, admits that she may be a high maintenance city girl at home, but she is not weak and is a tough girl who tends to speak her mind. She plans to hold her tongue, relate to those her age and be taken under the wings of the older castaways. I like that she is no stranger to the game, has paid attention, and according to her, knows that timing is critical when it comes to the immunity idol.

Natalie, “an even dumber long haired blond”, claims to be athletic, down to earth and a really hard worker. She plans to rely on her great people skills and ability to foster and maintain relationships, whether she likes someone or not. She may not have a clear strategy (her words not mine), but I like that she plans to be open minded, flexible, and adaptable.

Marissa, “the dark hair girl”, says she has always had to be tough, is well rounded, has experienced many people types, is pretty good at manipulating others without them knowing (sound familiar?), and will do whatever she needs to do in the game. She goes on about years of evolution, that we tend to forget that we are “animals”, and wants to get back to her “primal” self. My first impression is that she’s either really “deep” or “crazy”

Is Russell H. truly a Beast and king of the jungle? Or will the three Beauties have him eating out of the palm of their hands? Who is really pulling the strings in this puppet show? Access the bios, watch the videos, and tune in every Thursday night for additional insight…Make your own decisions and share your thoughts.
