HERE WE GO AGAIN…
THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED FOR WHAT I KNOW IS GOING TO BE THE START OF THE BEST SEASON OF SURVIVOR YET!!!
I am looking forward to some drama and action filled Thursday nights full of villains, endurance challenges, tribal councils and romance. Tonight we get to see if our early predictions of the castaways will leave us eating our words or saying “I told you so.” Furthermore, we get to see if good prevails evil once again.
We have barely had time to catch our breath from Big Brother and here it is, starting all over again. I for one am a little relieved it only comes on once a week and is pre taped. I think I might go crazy if I could watch these contestants live 24/7. My family complained enough as it is. I have a teenage daughter and a 2 year old son. For those who have children, you know where I am coming from.

Hey guys. This has nothing to do with Survivor, but wanted to tell you about this neat site called TheHungerSite. It has about six different charities on it, i.e., breast cancer, animal rescue, childrens health, etc., and you can click on it as many times a day as you want, and they give free food, books, etc. Something you might want to look into while you are at your computer. Still waiting for somebody to give me the address of the BB site we used to gab on. My computer kinda crashed the other day, and I lost a lot of information.

Had to have just a tiny break after BB. I was happy that Jordan won, bummed that Nat. got $50k and a little disappointed that Jeff got the $25k, when I thought that my girl Michele deserved it. But overall, was happy with the outcome!
What an awesome BB site that was ~ had so much fun, so now I am ready to start up all again!
@Ashely @Janet ~ fantastic insight to Survivor and right now, it’s the doc. for me (nice eye candy).
And yes Janet, I do agree that not having live feeds and only one episode per week all pre-taped, it does make you wonder how much of it is real, but again like you said, at least we can still have some of our lives back again

Maybe some people misunderstood me though, by saying good looking guys and gals and I meant that they look like good contestants. Cause you know me – if I went for the people who only had physical looks going for them, I would have been for J and J and J on the other site. (Jordan, Jeff and Jessie) LOL. So glad that group (most of the entire cast) has ridden into the sunset.

Betsy the cop is the one I am interested to see! I’m wondering whether her skills as a cop, can sniff out the liar in Russell H. and it will be interesting to see whether she can stand up “to the possible jerks and alpha-males” (her words not mine).
It will be refreshing to have some real competition on this show.

@Diana R- I was really excited by the end of BB. My only regret was that Michelle didn’t win more but she got about 18 grand and an entertainment center. Plus she is one of the most famous Neuro-scientists around.I was kind of shocked by Jessie and Lydia’s votes even though I had been saying that Jessie wouldn’t vote for Kevin. He came way up in my book.

Both Jessie and Lydia voted purely from emotions. I think that poor Jessie fell hard for Nat. and I think that Nat. strategically (or should I say conveniently) asked Michele to tell the JH that she was engaged. I think in Nats. mind she thought it would give Jessie time to accept that there would not be a relationship outside that house.
Jessie was clearly hurt when he found out and it was pretty easy for Lydia to manipulate him and to taint his views on Nat.
You see, as always Russell went for the opposite than we all thought, because in his mind, he thought that Nats. lying was strategic and that Jordan was carried by Jeff. For the most part she was and her speeches to the JH was just rambling, but I give her credit where credit is due, she actually did win far more than Nat. and did make game changing decisions (even if she did that through Jeff), when she needed to.
I hope that Michele is overwhelmed (in a good way) for all the love and support America gave her, she deserves it. $18k and her prizes isn’t chump change for 3 months work (vacation), although after she declares her winnings to Uncle Same, probably won’t be worth that much, but the experience will be priceless to her!
I also thought that Kevin voted on emotion, he was p*ssed that Jordan didn’t take him and he never had time to really evaluate and talk to the other JH members to see how both J/N played the game!
But now we are here and hopefully, someone who really plays this game well, using both their physical and mental strength wins the $1m!

You’re right, you always need a villian, someone to hate, just like Coach last season, couldn’t stand him, but made it worth watching just to see him lose. Hope the same goes for Russell H.
The only thing I didn’t like was him using hurricane Katrina to get sympathy from the other castaways. I am hoping that the cop works him out pretty quickly and he gets busted earlier in the game and he then starts to scurry to see whether he can still stay in the game without being evicted before the jury is selected!

Yes, Russell H has been deemed as the biggest villian that Survivor has ever had, so I think that CBS is now starting to cast a variety of different characters to keep us entertained. We all love to have our favs. and see them win, as well as the ones we dislike the most to receive their karma and be sent packing with nothing!

Good to be back! I also tend to agree with you, reading bios. gives us an insight to what the castaways say about themselves. But do we see them the same way they see themselves, that is always questionable. Look at Nat. as an example, she thought she played BB with intergity (what a joke!)
I have an idea who I currently like, but after tonight, my opinion may completely change and I will like someone who didn’t catch my attention when reading their bios.
Can’t wait, I love this game and this is one show that my hubby also enjoys. He couldn’t understand how I could be so involved in BB and he didn’t really care to watch the F3, who he thought should never have been playing for the $500k.

I am having one of those days where things go in one ear and out the other, so I need to post this before the thought leaves my mind. Isn’t it ironic that Russell is in the Oil Business. Russell= Oil=Slime. Oooooooh, I hate that guy, but he might be interesting to keep around for awhile to stir things up, AS LONG AS HE DOESN’T GET CLOSE TO THE END. Since I am for the other Russell, in the future, I will refer to one as the “Bad” Russell, and other one as the “good Russell. Looks like this is going to be a really fun survivor.

Diana R, we are already against each other because I did not like Betsy at all. I just didn’t like her personality or something. She rubbed me the wrong way. I think Mick will be a pretty good leader because he is able to make quick decisions and can read people well, based on his choices for the first challenge. Well we’re not completely against each other because I just posted that I also like Jaison.
In relation to Betsy, I think that she does read people very well and some of her training as a cop will show as we get more into this season.
I think my initial reaction to Mick was a positive one. Yes, he did choose his team well for the first challenge, however, I think that Russell H. is right in that Mick maybe the tribe leader, but Russell H. is the puppet master. I saw how RH manipulated the tribe members into getting rid of Marissa, why because she was questioning him and was weary of him. She was way too smart, so he eliminated her!
I want to see how Mick interacts over the next few weeks and see whether he figures RH out quickly and how he plans to eliminate him, because right now they need him for sheer strength, so he isn’t going anywhere soon!

Jessie voted for Natalie because she got engaged and that hurt his ego; Rupert WAS great and funny too. And hey, we argued on BB and we will probably argue here, but that’s ok. Diana, yes, that Hunger Site is a great one. Hope that all you guys on this site try it out.

While I agree that Rus H may not be likable, and I don’t get why at this stage of the game in particular, he thinks that sabotaging his own tribe is strategic. I do think that he has the ability to manipulate the game to his advantage…He recognized that Marissa was a threat and immediately went into proactive mode…

I agree, I think the first time they face tribal council, he maybe a target, because I think that he did not show any real strength of character tonight, however, that could have been his game plan, as not to have a target on his back! I kind of like Shambo, love the mullet (not!), but I think she is pretty smart. She maybe bossy but that is part of her training. She nailed it when she said this game is being played by 20+ adults and she will have to switch up her game to fit in with them.
The only problem is, that if she shows her true character too soon, they will evict her quickly, so if she is as ’street smart’ as she claims, she will recognize that and ease off with the orders.
I don’t really give her too long on the island, because over the past years, the oldies never really last that long, unless they can communicate on the younger ones level.

I think RH is very smart, to the point of being ruthless, I really think he is going to be one of the meanest castaways that Survivor ever had and he will live up the the promo. hype that we have already seen!

Well, looks like we already have the one you love to hate already. Russell, the “millionaire oil tycoon” from Texas. Who knows, he may be lying about that too.
Pouring water out of canteens, burning socks, making “secret” alliances with his 3 “dumb girls”, lying about being a Katrina victim, thrwong Marissa under the bus when she said she was worried about him. I’m sure I missed something.
Hopefully, the castaways in his tribe will begin to talk to each other and expose his web of lies, although it might take awhile. Better yet, I hope that anyone who sees the show will refuse to do business with him.
I think Shambo, the ex-marine, may be a strong player, but might rub some of them the wrong way.
It looks like we’re in for one helluva season!

Guys, I work in the oil and gas industry and to actually own your own oil company to matter how big or small the company is, you have got to be smart. I have actually worked in the Houston area before and those people do not play around.

The one thing that Shambo picked up straight away that he wasn’t a strong leader and that could hurt him, because he rightly said that when you are a leader you have a huge target on your back, so he is well aware how important it is to keep winning.

John is lucky his tribe won immunity or he would be gone. He lost the reward challenge for them. Then he just laid there. When he got back to camp he rubbed people the wrong way.

You know I missed the very last part where they showed who voted for who, so if Mick didn’t vote for Marissa, tells me that he is already working RH out and he might make a shift with the gameplay towards getting rid of RH.
You know I made a comment about all the hype about RH, and I will not be surprised if he is only on Survivor for a short period, so they are showing us more of big bad Russell. The other thought that crossed my mind, is how can an oil company owner stay away from his business for 39 days only to receive $1m (chump change to him), when his business needs him there to make vital decisions that could cost his company millions!!

Diana R – More than likely, he has his vps to handle most of the work anyway. If they are drilling on land or buying royalties or whatever it takes a lot of time just to get all the permits approved plus get all the approvals. Most oil companies right now are at a stale mate with the drilling aspect because of government regulations and stuff. I have been very slow in my work since the middle of summer. If bad Russ was going to take time off, this is the perfect time.

Loved tonight’s episode and consider it to be one of
the strongest first episodes. Lots of hooks to bring in
first time viewers.
Strong and interesting castaways.
Some really handsome and smart dudes for the ladies
and plenty of floaters for x-rev and the guys.
Russell is quite the character and it will be interesting
seeing his expression when he gets caught doing his dirty deeds.
Sad to see Marissa go and wish she had told the others
about her “secret alliance” with Russell before exiting.
What a hoot exit that would have been!

Shambo looks physically strong but her military bearing may

Yes, but this is a power monger! He needs to be in control 24/7. He even said something about control.
This is not a guy that although he has people working for him and making decisions, he needs to know what is going on the whole time, and since they don’t have any forms of communication with the outside world, I think it will be difficult for him to stay focussed on a game, because ultimately the game is not earning him millions, his company is!
He did say that he is a multi-millionaire, so like most entreprenuerial people, they live and breath their business.

Diana – I have been diving all over the world, except for Australia. Always wanted to go there. That’s where you’re from girl? Is the Great Barrier Reef as great as they say? I have tried many times to find a group that will go diving there, but money is a real problem for a lot of people, and many people don’t want the long airplane ride.

They take you out on a hover craft to the pontoons and take you diving.
The coral is only colorful at night, not during the day. But it is something worthwhile seeing.
I used to go to Queensland for vacations every year when I was younger.

@Diana R – I think that RH is a self made millionaire…So not only is he a hard worker, he has strong people working for him and/or with him. I often define my success as leader by the accomplishments of those who suppport me. IMO, the biggest compliment for a business owner/leader is the competency of your team and knowing that your business will run effectively and profitably in your absence.
@blackgirl – While I get why some think that people with money either don’t need to or should not be allowed to play in high stakes games, especially when it is chump change to them, I think that for some, it’s about the “challenge”. I could certainly use the 1K, but I think that the disparity of castaways is what makes the dynamics of the game more interesting. It’s a social game of mental and physical warfare, not a charitable donation of who needs the $$$ the most.

I agree with you about having strong people running your business. I just have this instinct about RH having to take control of everything in his life, even the people that work for him, that is why I made those comments.
When I ran my business, I totally relied on my staff, however I still had to ensure that all my ‘i’s were dotted and all my ‘t’s were crossed.

This Russell cat is a bad “villain.” IMO part of what makes it fun rooting against a villain on one of these shows is the fact that, if the bad guy loses, he/she gets what’s coming to him/her. So what if Russell gets voted out? The worst thing for him is a blow to his ego, but the fact that he’s loaded means that there is little hope for the audience to have a laugh at his expense if and when he gets voted out.
I was actually kind of enjoying him and thought that I would kind of pull for him, but then we find out that the money is chump change to him. I hope he gets voted out soon just so we can get past the whole thing.
It’s like last season with Eddie George’s wife and that Bare Naked granola Brendan guy. It really doesn’t matter if they win or lose – what fun is it to root for or against them?

@Lionel- I really hate he got the prettiest girl on the show voted out. He screwed me too. I was looking forward to seeing Marissa for many episodes to come. It looks like next week from the previews at the end of the show that things get a little bit physical during the competition and Jeff Probst has to call them off. I hope somebody whips his a$$for me!

Hi everyone… (glad to see some names I “got to know” reading the BB site. I thought for sure when I got here I wouldnt have a million posts to read yet.. but its nearly 5am the morning after the first survivor & I see I was wrong. So I will post my initial thoughts then tomorrow will try to catch up on the rest of my reading…
(YAY!!!) I went and saw evildicks after show interview after watching survivor on tivo.. then came here.
1st.. I too got way too into BB & BBAD (glad I didnt have a working computer or I probably would have also had the live feeds. Hubby bought me a new laptop when I complained about having to do everything on my blackberry or wait to use his phone and tonight is my first time on it
2nd off. I chose to not watch the survivor preview b/c I wanted to base my opinions on the show as we see it (at least for the first night) this is my 3rd season watching it but only the second from episode 1
I do NOT Like the “Russel” from FoaFOa tribe. I take it there arent rules on destroying other tribemates property? I can NOT believe he actually burdened (Jaison’s??) socks? does he not realize it may make him “UNCOMFORTABLE” but it also hurts himself in the long run to weaken his tribe? (spilling/drinking others water too?)I hope the girls who are left get together (SOON) and realize he made alliances with all them
Due to Russel’s behavior, at the moment I am rooting for Galu (?) tribe. they all seem to be getting along and working together.. even if they arent doing it Shambo’s way.
As for eye candy.. there seem to be quite a few I find worth watching.. Eric (I think that was his name?) the Doc, the rocket scientist… ummmm have to watch next week to remember the others.. again its 5am and my brain seems to be asleep even if my body isnt.
I didnt have anyone to watch BB with but my 21yr old son usually watches survivor with me.. but this week he was gone & might tend to be out most weeks so even if I have him to watch it with I know I have you all to talk to about it. I’m glad…I just have to get to know you all a bit

Why do some people wear SUITS and others dress more appropriately to the environment to where they are headed? don’t they know they are going straight there or is it like at the beginning of BB where they went straight to BB from where they were when they learned they were going?

BB was my first blog experience and only joined this one cause Leo kept it fresh with alternate views. Not a big fan of group think. Too boring. Guess the same reason why BB had Russell & Survivor has Rusell S.

AHHH the great Survivor challenge, and what a challenge it will be. I think this one is going to be good, Russell H HMMMM I am not sure about him yet, what he said, what he did I wanted to hate him but I couldn’t, there was just something there not sure yet but he wasn’t a monster like ignorant, you know what I am saying. ( oil owner, Miillionair, katrina = NATALIE)
Ben is just plain rude the one who told Marissa just answer the question at Tribal, I believe his mouth is going to get him in trouble before Russell H.
Betty the lady cop I think she has figured Russell H out but will stay low for awhile.
Ok that was my opinion on the first episode, let’s just hope we have an exciting Survivor season, and I enjoy these blogs, a few names I recognize from BB, ( gives my somthing to do at work).

My withdrawal systoms are slowly going away. I think I lost ‘time’ when i was on the blogs and bbad.Thanks to all who made it fun.If I had questions,you all jumped in to help..And correct me when i was wrong..nicely too. I got to give it up to Jaison..He was like ‘blk guys dont swim’ then off he went…..GREAT JOB, Jaison!!I also like Betsy the cop and did like Marisa…gone to soon. As far as Evil Russel, they, (cbs) should have rules that you are not allowed to touch any other person’s personnel stuff. I think they should send Evil Russel to exile island for at least four days, w/o food,water, & fire as punishment for going through the other ppl’s things! Karma yes? Any other thoughts?
