Jeff Probst Explains “Collars” Origin On Survivor 2015

Where did the Survivor 2015 theme of Collars originate for Worlds Apart? Host Jeff Probst came up with it after weeks of studying the castaways.

Jeff explains how production works to retrofit a theme to the castaways rather than picking an approach and finding the right players. In the past it was a casting director who set things up, but this year it was all Mr. Probst himself.

After looking at the cards all spread out over his table he realized that there weren’t just two tribes. There were three. From there the Survivor 2015 theme came together and we now have Worlds Apart.

Jeff wasn’t sure how everyone would take their label, but the response was positive from all groups and we’ll see that on Wednesday’s season premiere. The real mystery is if they live up to their assigned personas.

We should also look forward to a small tidbit that got Jeff excited. All the groups caught their maps when he tossed them at their first gathering on the beach. After 29 seasons, I guess it’s the little things in life! Watch Jeff’s interview below for more insight on the new season of Survivor.
