It’s nearly time for Episode 3 of Survivor Redemption Island! Last week we saw Matt get blindsided at the tribal council. Boston Rob’s team had lost yet again and in an attempt to cut off any potential danger between Matt and Andrea, he had the potential lovebirds split with Matt heading to Redemption Island.

We’ll get to see just how the Island battles play out when Matt meets up with Francesca. So far there’s been very little shared with us about the pending battle royale, but I’m hoping it won’t disappoint.

Meanwhile, back at the camps, Russell will need to get his butt in gear if he doesn’t want to fall victim to his challenger, Ralph. It certainly doesn’t hurt Ralph’s chances that he found his tribe’s Immunity Idol, but will he be ready to play it at the right time? Oh the drama! Here comes Episode 3, so get ready.

I thought for sure after Phillip lost the challenge for them on episode 2 of Survivor Redemption Island he was a goner but no, they went for the guy who tried to show a little showmanship to the other team.  I get that this is a survivor and that type behavior is not welcome but talk to him about it and give him another chance!  Get rid of the special agent, dirty pink underwear wearing turncoat who has already proven his disloyalty.  I can’t say enough about how much I dislike this guy!  He is awful!  The editing of his patriotism was pretty funny and Rob’s line about government jobs being stressful was priceless.

Russell Hantz is the same as ever.  He believes his two girl alliance team is all for him but if I was there I’d act the same way those girls did and let Russ think he had me on his side.  You never want anyone against you in this game.  I’m hoping the girls are just playing him but we haven’t seen that yet.  And what about Ralph?  I mean this dude is crazy and I like him!  It takes some guts to get in Russ’s face but since he has the hidden immunity idol he has nothing to lose.  Russ was caught telling a lie and now he’ll go after Ralph hard. 

If they lose the next challenge it should be an interesting tribal council to say the least.  Russ will be blindsided with Ralph having the idol and the two enemies will fight it out.  Can’t wait to see who comes out on top!

Tonight on Survivor 2011 we got our first look at Redemption Island when Francesca arrives. She reads the posted rules and learns she’ll get only the bare necessities as she awaits her first challenger. Doesn’t look like a very fun place to be by yourself, despite Francesca’s claim that it could be the best thing for her, but maybe that’s just the nightfall talking.

Back at the Ometepe camp Phillip promises his vote to Boston Rob, but Rob isn’t buying it at all. Matter of fact, the very next conversation has Rob telling the group to vote out Phillip at their very next chance. Let’s just hope Phillip has a few more days for crab-hunting because these scenes are hilarious.

Zapatera camp reveals Russell is hot on the trail for the Immunity Idol with the help of Krista and Stephanie. He’s decided he can’t wait for the first clue, but guess who beats him to the punch? The crowing rooster himself, Ralph. Why the heck are they making these so dang easy to find??

Time for this week’s Immunity challenge. The castaways have to swim across a channel, jump up, break a tile to release a key, and finally break a few more tiles. Fishing gear is the extra reward for this week’s challenge which looks like a lot of fun. Ometepe has a slight lead after the swimming portion, but Zapatera quickly catches up and gets ahead.

Ralph and Phillip are the respective team tossers and after an amazing comeback by Phillip, Ralph still manages to seal the deal and secure immunity for the second week in a row. Sorry Ometepe, but someone is heading home again this week. Will it be Phillip facing off against Francesca at Redemption Island?

Back at Zapatera’s camp, Ralph spots Russell pocketing a clue from their fishing basket. Ralph spreads the word and the team isn’t happy at all. It doesn’t take long for a face-off when Ralph confronts Russell who denies he has the clue. Busted!

Watch out Zapatera, here comes Ometepe! Tonight we’ll get the second Survivor Redemption Island episode delivered to us where I fully expect last week’s losing tribe, Ometepe, to exact full revenge on Russell’s new team.

Possibly more importantly, we’ll get to see what happens when Francesca lands on Survivor’s Redemption Island and awaits the next loser challenger. Oh the mystery. Oh the intrigue! Any guesses on who’s flame goes out next?

Are you ready for the second episode of Survivor 2011? Redemption Island returns on Wednesday after last week’s elimination of Francesca, weakening Ometepe by one less castaway and boosting Phillip’s ego just that much more.

I can’t wait to see if the beef between Russell and Ralph is legitimate or just flamed up by CBS for a little fun in the preview shots. Even more though, I want to see how Redemption Island itself plays out in each episode. It looks like Francesca will have to break free from some elaborate cage before she can face the next arrival.

From what we’ve seen so far, which castaway do you want to see go home next? Until the end of last week’s show, I would have said Phillip, but if that nutcase can keep Tribal Councils that lively, then I’m ready for him to stay a bit longer!

Survivor returned tonight with the first Redemption Island episode and it looks like this could be as good as we had hoped!

The 16 castaways landed on the shore and split in to the two tribes only to be quickly followed by Rob and Russell. After drawing tags from a bag, Rob went to Ometepe while Russell headed over to Zapatera. Not so surprisingly, Rob received cheers from his new tribe while Russell got just a few claps. The big bombshell fell next when Probst revealed the big twist of the season: Redemption Island. One thing worth noting there, Probst didn’t specify when the Redemption Survivor would return to the game other than “at some point.”

Zapatera arrives at their camp first and quickly gets to work setting up camp after a short speech from Russell. He promises them he’s only there to be good and won’t be sabotaging anyone this time around. I’m not thinking anyone was buying that for a minute! Overall, the team comes together well and gets their shelter set up for what looks to be a lot of rain this season.

Ometepe was a love fest as the group congratulated themselves on getting Rob on their team, assuming Zapatera was falling apart with Russell in their mix. The big stand out from Ometepe would have to be Phillip who showed himself to be a bit of a conceited jerk. I think I’ll be ready for him to leave before any day now.

Kristina struck out on her own and sure enough, discovered the coveted Immunity Idol and then quickly hid it in another location. Smart gal! Let’s see how long it goes before we see that come in to play.

The first Survivor Redemption Island immunity challenge was pretty cool. Tribes had to push a series of large blocks down a runway to create a series of steps, then cut loose a ladder, and finally assemble a patterned pyramid. Zapatera took a huge lead when they got all the way to the last stage before Ometepe could even complete the first stage. But could they keep that advantage?!

Survivor Redemption Island premieres tonight on CBS at 8PM, so if you’re not already pulled in to the new American Idol season then you won’t want to miss it. 18 castaways, including the return of Boston Rob and Russell, will hit the ground running tonight as they battle in hopes of becoming this season’s sole survivor!

If you’ve missed the preseason Survivor details then lets get you caught up. You already know Rob and Russell, but take a look at the other 16 castaway photos. Then there’s Jeff Probst’s guided preview of what we can expect this season. You won’t want to miss CBS hyping the Rob & Russell drama for all its worth.

CBS might have named the upcoming season “Survivor Redemption Island” but others are calling it “Survivor: Rob Vs. Russell” thanks to a couple of big egos.

After the Heroes & Villains season finale where we saw Rob and Russell talking a tough game at each other CBS decided what better way to keep the tension high then to put the two men in the jungle and see which one comes out alive!

Get ready because the new season of Survivor starts this Wednesday at 8PM on CBS. We’ll be here to cover all the news and results so keep checking back in!

There are just a few more weeks until the premiere of Survivor Redemption Island but the questions keep piling up. It seems that the return of Russell and Rob has generated a lot of interest and rightfully so!

In the video below, Jeff Probst explains how the new Survivor 2011 cast was delivered to the island, only to have another helicopter land behind them carrying the proverbial rumble in the jungle.

Especially funny is when Jeff notes that Russell was expecting a round of applause from his new team like Rob got from his. If you were a castaway on Survivor, would you rather have Russell or Rob? Why?
