Survivor Nicaragua: Shannon Elkins Shares His Tribal Council Experience

Shannon Elkins may have been the second person to leave Survivor 2010 in Nicaragua but that doesn’t mean he didn’t make a big splash on his way out.  In one of the most memorable tribal council’s we’ve ever had, Shannon goes off with absolutely no instigating from Jeff.  Read on to see why he felt he had nothing to lose and what caused him to explode on Sash.

Looking back do you have any regrets for talking so much at tribal council?

No, I knew I was going home. I didn’t have regrets. I wouldn’t have said a damn thing if I knew I was staying but I knew I was going home and that’s why I kind of went off on everybody.

When did you realize the votes were not going to go your way?

I knew about 5 or 10 minutes before we walked in that everything had changed and I was going home. So I went in there and that’s when it hit me and I was like screw it I can either go out like a little girl and sit there like a robot and everyone can talk about what color shirt I’m wearing but now you have all this crap to write about because you have this crazy white person who’s going to go in there and say all kinds of stupid shit. So there were two ways to look at it and I said let’s go this way.

Do you think it was fair that you asked Sash that he was gay like that?

Everything’s fair in love and war. What y’all don’t see is the guy was attacking me, calling me a liar. Nobody could say what lie I was telling so I went at him and said look the only liar here I feel is you because you lied to me and it just so happened it was at tribal. The guy should have sat there and kept his mouth shut and it never would have came out but the guy kept on and on and on so I just wanted to show that I thought my opinion of him was that he was lying and I wanted to show them look you can either go with the guy who thinks he’s playing the bachelor right now, handing out roses or you can go with the guy who’s lying. I think it’s unfair that I stereotyped. I stereotyped him. I stereotyped New York. I mean come on, are you going to tell me people from New York don’t stereotype people from Louisiana?

How can you be from Louisiana and have never eaten rice before? Jambalaya is on every menu.

I know but I’m a very good eater. I should be a spokesperson for chick-fil-a. I eat so much damn chick-fil-a I’m about to grow wings and start laying eggs. I eat a lot of chicken and I eat beef. I don’t eat any seafood. I’ve never had a crawfish. I don’t eat those foods. It must be the Texan in me. I was born in Texas.

Did you feel threatened by the group of women and think that they could go all the way?

No the only girl I felt threatened by and I think everyone on the tribe did was Brenda. Brenda’s not as outspoken as I am but as far as game knowledge, she was on the level.  I knew that women could dominate weak men. Chase was just weak. He handed over all his survivor skills to Brenda and said here play for me you know?

So how do you feel about Shannon now?  Did he leave Survivor too early?
