Survivor Recap: Cagayan Episode 07 ‘Mad Treasure Hunt’

Tonight on our Survivor recap we’re picking up where last week’s blindside action left new Aparri shocked at Kass’s betrayal that turned the numbers upside down and put Kass right back in the middle of the game. We’re waiting to see if that Brains’ member’s move was a brain dead decision.

Along with the fallout from Kass’s betrayal we’re set to get the “Mad Treasure Hunt” aspect of the Survivor show when the castaways are tipped off about the special power Hidden Immunity Idol. We still don’t know what its power entails other than it’s a brand new twist brought to the game this season thanks to Tyler Perry (written, directed, and starring Tyler Perry with special guest appearances by Tyler Perry).

Lots of drama at the camp after Tribal Council and it’s all thanks to Kass and her crazy decision. She immediately tries to get in with new Solana and they promise to keep her safe. Hah! Good luck with that Kass.

Reward Challenge:

The castaways are split in to two tribes and offered a steak dinner from Outback plus alcohol all from what’s apparently this segment’s sponsor, Outback.

Teams will have to cross an obstacle course to retrieve their chest at the beach, drag it up a slope, complete the puzzle, and win Reward.

Orange team is leading after Woo falls in on the Purple team and has to redo the balance beam. Orange is first to get their chest on to the slope. This looks exhausting!

LJ is a beast and doesn’t even use the rope to climb the very steep incline. Now Purple is in the lead and pulling their chest to the top. I’m sure there’s a joke in here somewhere about Morgan and chests, but there’s no time for jokes now!

LJ and Spencer are working the puzzle for Orange while Woo and Kass work the Purple puzzle. Orange is moving quickly and has a good lead. Yes! They get their puzzle completed in time and beat Purple.

Jeremiah, Jefra, LJ, Morgan, and Spencer are off to enjoy their Outback steak dinner with all the fixins while the rest head back to camp empty handed.

Back at camp Tony realizes he’s got nothing but time so he starts looking for the Hidden Immunity Idol that could be anywhere. We should see lots more of this tonight.

The winning tribe heads off to enjoy their dinner and it looks awesome. They eat and eat and eat (and I bet they’ll pay for that later). At the very end Spencer opens his napkin and a clue falls out. He quickly pockets it and waits to read it back at camp.

Hidden Immunity Idol:

Spencer goes on the hunt, but Woo isn’t far behind and goes on the hunt to find Spencer. We get the camera showing us where it is, but Spencer is all over the place searching in the wrong spots. Woo goes through Spencer’s stuff and steals the clue. That’s crappy, but whatever. Now Spencer needs to take this time to search hard and fast.

Woo recruits LJ to help while Spencer recruits his whole Aparri tribe. Everyone is out looking but wait! Spencer finds it right in front of Kass but is sneaky and hides his discovery from her. But here’s the weird thing. After all the hype this Idol turns out to just be a normal Idol. What gives?

Immunity Challenge:

Players have to balance a block on their head while standing on their toes. This looks awful.

Kass drops out immediately. Jeremiah goes next and Trish right behind him. Tony goes next. After awhile Morgan goes next. Woo loses his ninja skills and drops his block.

Jefra finally drops out after a long stay in the comp. It comes down to LJ, Tasha, and Spencer. This looks brutal. Ohh! LJ falls out leaving just Spencer and Tasha. Spencer is struggling hard and looks like he’s about to drop when… Tasha drops!

Spencer must be on one hell of a high after these back to back victories in his game. Spencer is safe tonight at Tribal Council.

Tribal Council:

Solana plus Kass are trying to decide if Aparri has the Idol (they do). Aparri is wondering if they can get Kass back and go after Tony. Spencer is off to give it a shot. Kass says she’ll consider it and recognizes that Tony is a better option than Morgan.

The usual banter back and forth at camp, but now it’s time to vote. Will Kass flip? Let’s find out. Spencer does NOT use his Idol.

Jeff tallies and reveals the votes: Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony, Morgan, Morgan, Morgan, Morgan, Morgan, Morgan.

Morgan is voted off Survivor tonight.

Did the tribe make the right choice?
