Survivor Recap: Cagayan Episode 09 ‘Sitting In My Spy Shack’

There’s more Survivor fun ahead for us tonight in Episode 9, “Sitting In My Spy Shack.” We can thank kuh-razy Tony for that title as he’s rebuilt his spy station upon a foundation of paranoia that his alliance is turning on him and his chances at the million dollar prize.

After last week’s blindside of LJ, a former close ally of Tony, we’ll have to see if another alliance member will fall or if they’ll turn their attention back to the few remaining members of the New Aparri.

Tonight’s Survivor picks up with Tony building his spy shack by the water well and listening in on Jefra and Trish as they talk about Tony. Uh oh, Tony is worried that Trish thinks he’s acting too well despite saying she thinks they should stick to their alliance with Tony. Go figure.

Reward Challenge:

The castaways head off to the first challenge of the night, “Rove, Rove, Rove Your Boat.” The two teams will compete to collect paddles from floating stations and return to the beach to assemble a “cool Survivor phrase.” No idea what that could be. Ah, so that’s it. “Worth Playing For.” They’ll be competing to win a picnic lunch at a destination.

Orange: Kass, Trish, Tony, & Woo.
Purple: Tasha, Jefra, Spencer, & Jeremiah.

Teams are close as they collect all their paddles and arrive back at the beach. First to solve the puzzle phrase will get the lunch trip. Kass and Woo assembling for Orange. Spencer and Tasha playing for Purple. Neither team can figure it out. Ahh, now Spencer figures it out. Who will get there first?

Purple gets the Reward win! Kass, Trish, Tony, and Woo go back to camp empty. Well not entirely empty. Tony’s head is completely full of fear.

Back at camp Trish finds a fruit tree and sends Woo up to claim a few pieces. As he tries to come down Woo takes a nasty fall but is okay. He fell HARD!

Over at the reward lunch Spencer is ready to work hard on pulling Jefra over to their side. Jefra opens up that she’s worried and that she likes the idea of sending Tony to Ponderosa.

Just as things start to crank up on talks they get letters from home. Jefra is inspired to “jump ships” after reading her letter from home. They agree to form a Final Four. They need to win Immunity to secure this new alliance!

Immunity Challenge:

Immunity is back up for grabs. Castaways will stand on an angled plank and balance a ball atop a small plate attached to a poll. At set intervals the players will move down the plank and lower their grip making it all more difficult.

After just three minutes four players are already out. Jefra, Trish, Tony, and then Kass.

Remaining players move down to the next phase. Four remain. Wait, hold that though. Jeremiah drops. That leaves just Woo, Tasha, and Spencer.

Players are now down to the lowest, thinnest part of the plank. Three remain after twenty minutes: Woo, Tasha, and Spencer. One of them will win Immunity.

Woo is out! Either Tasha or Spencer will win Immunity and help enable their new Four Castaway Alliance. That’s it. Spencer drops his and Tasha wins Immunity!

Back at camp the target is set for Tony even if it goes four and four. Tasha doesn’t know Spencer has that Idol which could help them out. Tony rushes off to search for that Special Idol.

Jefra starts pouring out her heart to Trish and Kass about worrying over Tony. But maybe someone should have been following him because sure enough, he found the Special Tyler Perry Idol. Good grief. This guy is going to win the whole thing, right?

Okay, so here’s how that special power works. Tony can use it AFTER the votes have been revealed. He can not give it to anyone and must use it himself. That’s insane.

Jefra comes to Jeremiah and reveals she will not vote with her new alliance. Yeah, so that was a dud not that it really matters with Tony’s special power.

Spencer reveals to his three member alliance that he has the Idol. They decide to go after Woo instead of Tony since Woo is a better competitor. Smart move. Let’s see if it works.

Tribal Council:

If Spencer sticks to using his Idol then they should be able to pull off getting rid of Woo.

Spencer calls out Tony and tries to sabotage his game by telling the rest of them that their three will vote for Tony to win if they keep him at the end.

Tony again hints at his “bag of tricks” but I don’t think he’ll need to play it tonight, but let’s see.

It’s time to vote. Jeff tallies the votes and reads them out:
