Survivor Samoa: Post Recap Discussion
I have to say that I was disappointed in the Recap episode. It once again turned into the Russell show and I don’t know why I thought it would be any different. The highlight for me was watching Erik set the trap for the chicken and Shambo catching it. That was a proud moment for them and they were so excited. Of course Russell didn’t let that last long and let them both loose. I wish we could have seen the expression on Erik’s face when he woke up the next morning and found them gone. They did throw in some air time for Shambo and I was surprised to see her break down, especially in front of Laura. I’m sure they have all had their breaking point on the show.
I did love it when they were all eating the papaya in secret and not sharing with the others. I mean come on, Erik cut down an entire tree. Where in the world do you hide a tree? They all appeared to have lost a significant amount of weight and have to be malnourished. I just hope they are getting enough water.
What did yall think about the show? Should they just do without the recaps all together? I don’t think they had much choice since it is a holiday. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and next week we are back on track with Episode 11 which looks really good by the previews.

i take back what i said about Brett being too passive, and i actually believe now that Coach DID fulfil a dream of changing the winner from an evil self serving con artist to a worthy and compassionate competitor, JT
i really
hope this jury does award Nat the money…
November 27th, 2009 at 9:10 am
I have to say that I enjoyed the recap episode. Erik v chicken was hilarious. My favourite part was Russell taunting Dave with the idol..that was priceless.
November 27th, 2009 at 9:13 am
AC, I agree with you about Natalie winning the money..she is not as devious as Russell but she is playing the game..I like her.
November 27th, 2009 at 10:52 am
Roll Tide! Alabama/Auburn game today on CBS!
November 27th, 2009 at 11:44 am
Ashely i was thinking of you last night when i seen Laura leaving again and that look on Shambos face LOL! Oh if i was there when Shambo was feeling sad cause of her loss i would have got up and heald her in my arms AWA that was sad.
November 27th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
thanks Donna blackgirl, i really love Nat and hope she continues to have success, June, i like Shambo but i am afraid she is self destructing from her accident and her paranoid delusions, seeing Shambo reject Lauras offer of compassion and knowing so many marines who are paranoid and antigonistic, i wonder if Shambo needs some help to resolve lifelong issues that seem to alienate her from others ??
November 27th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
Thanks for another great post, Ashley! Hope everyone had a great turkey day.
#6 AC – Very intuitive and compassionate comment about Shambo. She did present the best laughs for me in the show. “What am I, seven?” – “These people can kiss my a$$” – “You want me to throw up on your face (talking about Laura – my personal favorite)”
I do agree with Ashley – this recap eppy really was too much RussHell, but he is the master player in this game, so far. We did see more of Dave – you know he has a degree from Oklahoma State in OPERA. And a little more of Mick with some insights into his game play. BUT, I’m ready for Eppy #11 next Thursday.
November 27th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
#3 blackgirl – Agree with you about Natalie. Didn’t really like her at first, but she has really stepped up to the plate and shown herself to be a gamer. I liked her comments last night about staying on the coattails of RussHell – smart!
November 27th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I totally get why Shambo felt that Laura’s sort of reaching-out to her was fake! The expression on Laura’s face was about as compassionate as a block of wood. I mean, who replies “Well, they’re better off now, anyway”, when someone in tears tells you about the death of a beloved sister!
I agree with blackgirl, the best moment was Russell actually wearing the idol around his neck while taunting clueless Dave!
I liked when Russell talked about how much he loves his family. Also, it was interesting to learn that five years ago he was living paycheck to paycheck in a trailer. He’s given himself an evil persona, but he’s playing hardcore. I don’t think he has a chance in hell of winning, though. He has pushed aside the important factor that the people he is pissing off have to vote for him in the end … and they won’t.
And, we still don’t know anything about Brett!
November 27th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
Ashley, thanks for the post. How do you manage to get them up and written so promptly?!
I agree with you that it was essentially The Russell Show. I think recaps belong at the end; interesting outakes, blurbs etc. shown during a victory special while interviewing the winner, runner-ups and other Survivor participants.
November 27th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
I taped the show and my DVR ran out of space so I only saw 24 minutes, so thanks to eveybody for the updates and insights. I will have to watch the whole episode on line. From what I saw it really made me like Shambo less during the fire starting scene. Her whole game plan was to wow them with her knowledge since she is “an expert” at everything. She neatly fits into one of my favorite quotes that “she doesn’t know enough to know that she doesn’t know.”
November 27th, 2009 at 1:58 pm
okay this is random and all but I wanna know what this means to other people, just curious.
“A simple plan for life is change. Find yourself the nicest range, strange?…..
Then you see the light change.
Can you find the right lane On a bright day?”
What is a man without some change?
Bum in the street wit himself to blame.
Empty pockets, empty brain, Im sick with God
My median Forever eyes of simple plan.

November 27th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
AC as i do love Shambo she is a snack and might eat my head off after i lefted her up like that saying goes when the snake was sick and ask the girl to take her home and she did and feed him and heald him and then he bit her with poison and she said why the hell did you do that to me? I heald YOU and feed you? He said thats what i do i am a snake LOL!
November 27th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
I MEANT SNAKE NOT SNACK lol.
November 27th, 2009 at 3:55 pm

November 27th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
yes Cooper but ACCORDING TO LAURAS WORLD they are better off in the christian heaven, so it was not evil of Laura, just the usual bias, for me: FIVE MISTAKES humans have made for about as long as our DNA has existed, 200,000 years:
1. there is a HOLY SCRIPTURE inspired by GOD that is perfect in every way, however, this is NOT POSSIBLE because reality NEVER REPEATS ITSELF, nor does it EVER PAUSE for a nanosecond, EVERYTHING changes, and
BOREDOM cannot exist.
2. there is an EVIL entity whose SOLE mission is to destroy whatever we hold sacred, but this CANNOT be true either, ACTIONS that abuse or are violent simply happen because human genetics has been MUTILATED by 40,000 years of alcohol abuse, and a BILLION other mind altering toxins like cocaine and heroin. 20 MILLION humans are able to do abusive and violent acts without remorse because we have damaged our DNA.
3. there is an omnipotent creator god who made humans exactly in HIS image, but this cannot be true because THERE IS NO IMAGE, and there is NO omnipotent power in reality, if there were, then nothing would ever happen that is not controlled by this omnipotent power, and
freedom COULD NOT exist.
4. there is a HEAVEN which the ELITE believers WILL go to SOMEDAY, but this cannot be true, we are COMPLETE as OBSERVERS, as INFINITE MIND we observe reality, WE ARE NOT THE OBSERVED reality such as the laws of physics would say are matter and energy, we are INTANGIBLE. ALL we need to live a sacred life is AVAILABLE NOW.
5. there is a terrible HELL with eternal fire and brimstone to PUNISH these sad damaged humans whose DNA has been mutilated, because THEY are EVIL, but this cannot be true, simply because we are NOT THE only sentient beings, nor are humans the standard biological beings, we are LOST IN SPACE and probably the ONLY diploid biology anywhere outside of earth. Bona fide scientific and medical research into human disease and disorders are the ONLY useful agents of change in our earthly experience, LET US WORK TO HEAL our damaged criminally insane people, and we can possibly see how intelligent humans can be, NOT
BLAMING some EVIL entity who cannot possibly exist.

Jeff and Ashley, guess what I am watching. I might be bad luck though.
November 27th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
from Gwyneth Paltrows enewsletter GOOP:
Compassion is the capacity to move beyond our
own sense of entitlement and victimhood and
move inside the other person’s heart. When I
stop blaming my own mother for all the ways
she failed me and start seeing the ways in
which her own life was a courageous response
to circumstances beyond her control; when I
realize that she gave me the very best that
she could and stood by me in her own way to
the very end, then my heart softens: not just
for her, but for my own wounded self.

Wow! What a game! Roll Tide!!
November 27th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
Happy post-Thanksgiving folks… Just checking in and wanted to say hi real quick…
Wanted to thank you all for your prayers and thoughts about my wife’s health.. Her Crohn’s flare-up passed on Wednesday night and we had an enjoyable Thanksgiving going out to one of the off-strip higher-end casino resorts for some playing and a GREAT dinner at an Italian restaurant.
I enjoyed last night’s episode — they usually do a lot of stuff we’ve already seen, however this time they showed a LOT of new stuff with the Galu folks…
I especially liked Sham’s lonliness meltdown with Laura comforting her and Sham not buying it for a second!!
I also liked the trap Erik set for the chicken and how they re-captured it and how Russell set them up for escape!! Love him now!!
They hardly showed Brett yet again and certainly didn’t touch on any possible previous aquaintance with Laura… Hopefully that means he’s destined to get snipped next week..
I love how they showed Russell and Mick’s friendship/alliance… and I also have a newer respect for Natalie and really hope she and Mick are in the mix with Russell for the final 4!
Hope you all have an awesome rest of this weekend… will try ot check in, othewise, not till Monday
November 27th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
AC- This is not a religious forum, however I must direct you to John 3:16 where there is no mention of DNA or rhetorical twists created by the so called scholars to achieve eternal life.
November 27th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
#24 #25 Ashley and Jeff – Congrats! They pulled it off – a really good game and the Tide did roll!
November 27th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
Jeanne-Thanks! It was too close for comfort.
November 27th, 2009 at 11:23 pm
Jeff agreed about the forum, however science and religion have become intertwined forever in our modern dilemma, it seems neither will ever be complete, science is only a method of measuring our cosmos and how it works, NO ONE created anything because everything existed forever in my opinion, i guess that has been the deinition of religion in western culture, creation scenarios, i reject them all in the name of scientific realism, but NO WAY would i reject ANY religious belief, what you believe is what you get
we create our own belief systems, and i REFUSE to allow religion to define my own belief system
religions have a very bad record of rejecting a scientific world view so there is no way to avoid topics of a religious nature because the religions have always captured the high moral ground about EVERY subject known to mankind
i also refuse to allow religion to define reality, my own freedom to think is at stake !!
November 27th, 2009 at 11:50 pm
I just got back from taking my daughter to see the new twighlight movie and it was good. Better than the first one.
Let us remember that this is not a religious site. When people begin debating these issues it really just gives me a headache. If you want a debate then we can find somewhere else to do it because I can promise you right now you do not want to go round and round with me on this.
November 28th, 2009 at 1:01 am
Ashley…Great job as always and i have to give it to Alabama today…Maybe i should move to Alabama?
November 28th, 2009 at 2:16 am

Lunch then football – make it a great day, peeps!
November 28th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
Donna blackgirl, i stepped over that line but Survivor HAS HAD many religious zealots who HAVE used religion as their primary ego ID on the program…just mention Laura and it seems religion IS the topic, she seems to be SOAKED in the subject
i think religion relates to some Survivor contestants, so fundamentally that we might NOT DEBATE the issue of religion IN OUR OWN beliefs, but lighten up on using religion to critique the Survivor zealots ??
actually i would prefer ONE topic here WITHOUT DEBATE, just to allow US HERE to identify our beliefs WITHOUT ANY response about EACH OTHERS beliefs except to acknowledge our own ideas ??
November 28th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Jeanne pumkin pie without whipt cream is not good so slap some on for me will ya. Ya erica sucks too. Go team globhotties and cyane and magen!
November 28th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
i like Ericka. i think she is just losing her ability to compete, she seems exhausted and my guess is they will be eliminated soon…
Mika and Canaan apparently broke up because Canaan felt they are too young to marry ??
i love the globetrotters, both of these guys and the whole globetrotter experience, they brought their past teams to my little town when i was a child, and i really admire their amazing accomplishments, my pick to win are Meghan and Cheyne, they are really hilarious and talented in their own athletic ways…
November 28th, 2009 at 5:39 pm

November 28th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
after a discussion with my dear christian sister Ashley, i have realized my mistake:
I KNOW NOTHING OF THE TRUE NATURE OR CAUSE OF ANYTHING, EVEN MYSELF…
if you BELIEVE anything i say you take a GREAT RISK
as Alan Watts once said, ALL human words are NONSENSE, listen to words as if they are MUSIC, not LYRICS, just enjoy the tunes
November 28th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
AC, are you being facetious?
November 28th, 2009 at 7:51 pm

November 28th, 2009 at 8:21 pm
Just making sure AC. You know I am just messing with you.
November 28th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
my IQ is 189, Danger Daves is 140, I KNOW THAT I KNOW NOTHING
perhaps a little knowledge is dangerous, but a LOT of knowledge works pretty good
as Einstein once said, my ideas are scientifically accurate, but all it takes is ONE disproof and all my theories are nonsense…Einstein is STILL 99.99 percent accurate in many of his theories, but he never claimed to know WHY or HOW things are they way they are, just HOW THEY WORK within the scientific and philosophic method, which is NEVER a FINAL sttatement, science HAS NO final statements except to say that everything changes, so does anything i know about now, it is already outdated when i say it
November 28th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
June you ask about fav team to win the Super Bowl..My fav is New England Patrioits or New Orleans..I still drinking the orange crush for Randy Moss and Drew Brees is awesome.. I just don’t want P Manning to win (sorry Summer)

i want a new topic called I LOVE LOLO
November 29th, 2009 at 8:15 am
the more i look at the scene between Shambo and LOLO, the more ANTIGONISTIC i think Shambo is becoming, not antAgonistic, which is the opposite of whatever, but the ASTEROID 129 Antigone, Shambo seems like she is about to crash and burn, are the others trying to convince Shambo she is safe while they blindside her?
November 29th, 2009 at 10:51 am
Well Happy Sunday to everyone. Slow week ahead for Survivor talks..I guess we will just have to talk about other stuff..we always do anyways..Lots of NfL and NBA on so I will not be bored. @ Cooper..hope you will enjoy the Grey Cup(Canadian SuperBowl)..Go RoughRiders.
