Survivor Samoa Standouts
The first installment of Survivor Samoa brought us a few people that outshown the rest! Lets start with the Galu tribe.
Shambo…ok the name is ridiculous but the woman is fierce!!! I wouldnt want to cross her anytime soon. As an ex-marine, shes used to getting things done! That’s why she will soon be butting heads with John…the rocket scientist. His good looks will only take him so far. He needs to learn to quit talking things to death and get on with it!! Mannnn….its a good thing hes easy on the eye or i would have tuned him out already!
The other main man in the Galu tribe is Russell S. Picked as the leader for the tribe this guy will make friends fast and be able to keep his mouth shut when necessary….John could learn from him!
On to the noise makers of the Foa Foa tribe. Ok you get 3 guesses as to who made the most trouble the first night (and the first 2 guesses dont count)…..Russell H of course!! His strategy of making the weak weaker may work for a while. Pouring out the tribes water and burning their socks seemed like an evil thing to do……how come i was laughing!!!
Foa Foa seems to have more standouts than Galu. Betsy….the 48 year old policewoman gets points for good instincts. She seems to have Russells number.
There’s Jaison…great swimmer and an all around physical threat. His swimming ability saved the day in the first competition! He has the potential to outlast them all!
Mick….showed great leadership and chose the more interesting people when they chose tribe members! Being a doctor may come in handy on the island.
Ok 2 more standouts and then i’ll stand down!
I lump these two together because their bios say the same thing….”womanizer” !! Erik claims he can “date four to five women at the same time without issues”. This might be a skill worth having considering all the young, impressionable girls on the island. Or he could find out that his gang dating can’t be done!!! And of course, the country boy Ben. This Missouri boy knows what to do….if they will let him do it. His little last minute *wink* to Ashley means he’s starting early…..let’s see if these two last past the second date!
Who stood out most to you…and why!! Tell me your picks and hang on tight…..we’re in for a bumpy ride!!

Cat, I wish I had something to debate with you but I pretty much agree with what you wrote. As I think I posted before, my favorite is Jaison, quiet but his actions/abilities speak loud, plus I have an affinity for swimmers’ physiques. I think the “campsite” is a little too isolated for gang dating for Erik.
I do have to say though that if I was going to be on Survivor, I don’t care what they say, after all the seasons of Survivor, I would be wearing and sleeping in clothes that would be most conducive to “camping” 24/7. Of course I don’t know the rules, but some people looked prepared to “play” whereas others looked like they were going to a cocktail party.

@Cat- It is time to go out on that limb and hope it doesn’t break (again)
For the girls I like Monica. She appears to have a non-abrasive personality and is pleasant to the eye. I think she can fly under the radar and go far if she can avoid the cattiness (no pun intended) that doomed many of the females on the past shows.
For the guys I like Jaisson. His success will depend on getting wise about evil Russell. He has to realize that his socks did not vanish on their on, like they do in the dryer sometimes. If he looks around at his tribe and questions “Who would sabotage me?” the answer will be obvious. The first show was spun to display the evil of Russell. In real life you could just look at the guy and no he is a loser. With the clues offered up during tribal council to the others, I think they will compare notes amd figure him out.
The other tribe “Galu” looks strong and could win lots of immunity challenges.If they can avoid tribal coucil they will stay strong. I like good Russell. He is strong and has the respect of his tribe. I agree with you that Shambo is living dangerously with her social choices. John will propably be the first to leave on that side after looking so weak during the first reward challenge and trying to appear smarter than the rest during the “Shelter Skelter” deal.

Hey Jeff! I’m on my way back from the game and it was so much fun. There was a lot of people selling tickets outside the stadium and we got in for free right before kick off. I really want to go next week since it is the first SEC team we play. Roll Tide!

Jeff, my family is from tuscaloosa but we moved to birmingham when I was young. I grew up in the indian springs area. Now I live in gadsden. Did you go to pelham high school?

@ Ashley- Yes I was a charter graduate. I was the first president of the student council and we decided to be green/gold. Now when I see the water tanks I think: “I did that!” Unfortunately by telling you that it reflects my age.

@ Jeff – I responded to your “disappointment” and your decision not to participate on my blog…Although, you are way off the mark on my statement, I respect your comments, opinions, and “feelings”, I hope you can extend the same courtesy. If you so desire, you will find it on my thread.
@Cat – OK, I have not picked a fav yet, but my standouts are Mick, Jaison, and Liz because they all seem to be quiet storms, which in my opinion are the most dangerous. I was impressed by Mick’s ability to calmly make good decisions. He realizes that, as the leader, he is in a vulnerable position, and seems to be allowing other players to expose themselves, i.e. Ben’s aggressiveness and “evil” Rus’s scheming. It looked like he witnessed the last Rus/Marissa convo. Jaison stepped up and blew out the competition with his athleticism, and seems to be quietly sizing up the others. During tribal council, he is the only member of his tribe who showed his vote to the camera without explanation. Liz displays self-awareness and is smart enough not to go against the tide this early. All three appear to be playing methodical…willing to stand out as a valuable contributors and assets and carefully keeping any signs of scheming, threats, etc. under wraps.
On the flip side, “evil” Rus stands out for obvious reasons, and dare I say it…I actually enjoyed watching him. Shambo will not be able to contain herself and will self-destruct. It’s a little early to tell, but if Ben’s not careful, he may share her same fate…He either has a temper or is impatient. Although I think he’s one to watch, I’m on the fence with Erik, and lastly but certainly not least, there is “John John”…beauty, brains, and NO stamina…lol! I felt sorry for him. Maybe it’s me, but he is more America’s Next Top Model than Survivor.

Ashley- Small world huh. Briarwood is a good school. The home of Kat Redick!(sp?) I worked at the Foodworld on Valleydale Road (Southlake) for fifteen years as dairy mgr. We have propably crossed paths.

Ashley- She played soccer on the gold-medal U.S. Olympic Team with Mia Hamm. Remember when they won, the one girl (might have been Kat, but I’m not sure) ripped her shirt off down to her sport bra during the victory celebration.

Ashley-I know the feeling. They showed that footage on several commercials, Gatorade I think. I thought it might ring a bell. She does soccer clinics there all the time. Briarwood is a soccer powerhouse.
Our most famous alumni at Pelham are Tyler Watts (his dad Herman was my coach) and Shirley Chapman Henson. (who was one of my best friends in HS) She is the infamous road rage killer who shot the lady at the Alabaster exit after cutting each other off in traffic. If you Google road rage her story pops up.

Washington has just defeated USC 16-13. (sorry Dan!) I guess Alabama will move up. Auburn game is going to be delayed or cancelled because of thunder storms.

Ashley- sorry I was on the other post mending fences with fedup. I don’t know what they will do about Auburns game. By golley this is football just get out there and play. Seriously though I think if they delay for a while they should be OK. The Auburn fans can just feed their cows a little later when they get home.(I hope there are’nt any AU fans reading this or I will be mending more fences tonight)

Ashley-Shirley was one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. I don’t know what snapped that night. She went to jail for manslaughter and spent two or three years in jail. Her husband divorced her and she got out of jail to no husband, no kids and no house. I don’t know where she is now. I hope we don’t get booted off the sight for being off topic.
The new commercial for survivor hints that Betsy and evil Russell get into it.

Jeff, I haven’t seen the new commercial yet but from what everyone is saying it sounds like Thursday is going to be good. I remember hearing on the news that Shirley got released but didn’t know her husband divorced her. I hope she gets to see her kids.
Auburn is getting beat 14-0!
Cat, I’m glad you are a fan of football! I like Kentucky also. I always pull for them unless they play Alabama.

@(wild)Cat- Well Y’all dont want to play us in football and we don’t want to play y’all in basketball. LOL The Arkansas/Georgia game is crazy. Neither team has a defense. Between them they have scored 45 points in the first half. Texas Tech is putting up a fight against Texas. Tech beat them last year for Texas’s only loss. Bama may gain two spots.
By the way. You may have figured it out but I am a bonafide couch potato. I have three TVs in my living room. During football season it is like the electronics dept.at Sears.

I HATE to agree with you about John being the first to leave but he did kinda do himself in with the weak showing in the first comp….it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know you should strip down to the bare minimum when in a swim comp….

Cat….I too laughed when Russell H burned socks and dumped out the water…but he is a total jackass! I just said this in response to Janet’s…but he’s not a good liar…he was himming and hawing away when Marissa asked him about that stuff….I don’t think he’ll last very long at all! It doesn’t take a rocket scientist(well this season it just might…lol) to figure out the guy’s been making deals with everyone…soon as that’s exposed it’s game over for Russell H!
I have to disagree about 1 thing Cat….Just cuz he’s an owner of an oil company, doesn’t mean he’s a hard worker or whatever….1st, he’s the boss! How many bosses actually work hard?? 2nd, alot of these oil companies are long time family things…he could have had it handed to him by his daddy or whatever….most of those oil things have been setup for years! So he gets no respect for me on that….and I read a little from him saying people like him, blah blah blah…yeah right! Of course people like him…he’s a millionare and most of the people who like him are probably his workers and people who make money from him! He’s another one of these “perception is reality” people…
He’s playin too hard…too fast….and he has no respect for the game itself! Which drives me batty! I’d feel differently if he said he was a big fan or whatever….but no, he’s trying to show us “idiots” how dumb this show is…and how easy it is to win it! That’s insulting to us the fans! So screw him! Can’t get rid of him fast enough….He won’t make it to the merge is my bet….and NO ONE should be afraid of this guy….I feel bad for Marissa…she may have been a great player, and cuz she dares questions Russell she’s voted off? BS!!
He needs to realize this isn’t the oil fields…nobody needs to kiss up to him for anything! He’s in Survivor land now…a level playing field….his money means nothing…the others need to stop him in his tracks, before he gets his ball rolling! And one more thing…what’s with the underwear? Put some shorts on… ya pig!! The guy looks like a baby Rhino in his undies… What a total slob!!

It is so good to see you on here. The reason I say that Russell H. is a hard worker is because I have watched owners of oil companies (small companies of course) and they are always so stressed and overworked and the competition in this field is just like nothing you have ever seen. Even if the business is passed down from former generations, it would still be a tremendous work load for the owner.
As far as him playing the game too fast, yes I agree that he is the Ronnie of survivor. I just want him to last a while for the entertainment value.

Ashley…You’re right…I have rich family members who struck oil in WV of all places! Coal and timber too….so I wasn’t saying just cuz you’re rich or have your own business you’re a slacker or whatever….But that COULD be the case….believe me, I run my own little thing here in the Detroit area…I bust my ass! No sleep…not much free time…so I hear ya Ashley….you may be right about him…But I see it all the time…especially with kids who’ve had it handed to them….depends on the person I guess….mainly my point was…I can’t stand the guy(Russell H) and I’d take any opportunity to bash him….lol jk…I really don’t like him…I think his days are numbered, but if you girls want him around, fine! Killer, I agree with you about kids who get things handed to them. Some of them are absolutely rotten. I have friends who worked in WV and leased a lot of property for coal, oil, and natural gas. I don’t like BRussell either but he is good for drama and entertainment.
