Do you still call the tribe Murlonio when it’s just Ometepe? Either way, that’s all we’ve got tonight on Survivor 2011 after Zapatera has been completely wiped out and banished to Redemption Island. Rob lets us know that he’s got just eight more days to go of keeping his teammates’ attention diverted from the truth: that they should be voting him out! Let’s see if he survives this week.
It’s time for a Sprint message from home. Both the Murlonio castaways and the Redemption Island “warriors” found a cell phone with videos from their family. Everyone gathers around and enjoys the recorded videos for one another. They’re anxious for a chance to win some time with their family.
Redemption Island has its first four-way duel and Jeff reveals that the winner will get some one on one time with someone from home while the next two stay in the game and the last person is eliminated. The challenge is to break tiles with a hard ball similar to an Immunity challenge earlier in the season. Mike takes the early lead while Steve falls behind. Mike wins the visit from family by getting all four of his tiles first. Matt and Ralph follow shortly behind but Steve fails and is cut from the game.
The pressure is on Mike because he has a choice. 1) take the time with his mom. 2) give that time to Ralph and Matt. 3) give that time to the remaining six Ometepe/Murlonio. Amazingly Mike cites Jesus’ instructions to love your brother and so he gives the most to the most people. Jeff is really surprised by the choice, but Mike’s mom is not. She’s proud of Mike’s choice and waves goodbye. Murlonio heads back to their camp with their loved ones.
It’s time for the Survivor Immunity Challenge. The castaways must fit stair puzzle pieces up and down a very, very tall staircase. This looks like it’s going to be brutal. They can only bring one plank at a time so no bundling, guessing, and testing. Lots of running up and down making me tired just watching it! Jeff lets us know that it was 110 degrees that day. Half-way through it’s a tight race between Rob, Andrea, and Grant. No big surprise there! In the end it’s Rob who wins with Grant literally just a few steps behind him. So close!
I can’t tell if Rob is faking or not but he puts on a big show about his exhaustion after completing the challenge. He asks for everyone to come help him stand up and move around. Do you think it was just drama or real?
Heading in to the Tribal vote it looks to be either Phillip or Andrea going home. Andrea is targeted for being a real competitor while Phillip is just plain annoying. We get to see the clip of Rob saying something about thirty-two days work out the window and we find out that CBS chopped it up to make it sound that way. Rob was just talking about possibilities. Nice, CBS.
Jeff retrieves the vote bucket and pulls them out one at a time. When the second vote against Andrea comes out she has her “OMG” moment when she realizes what’s about to happen. Sure enough, Andrea is voted out and sent to Survivor Redemption Island.
Did Murlonio make the right choice this week with Andrea’s elimination?
