The war rages on for Survivor 2020 contestants as they continue the battle to become the best player of all time. Like last week, some are playing better and harder than others.
So let’s take a look at our second Survivor player rankings of the season. I’ll be keeping the rankings separated by tribes until they’re merge.
(Editor’s note: Keep in mind these rankings are based on what we saw this week, not who we think could win the season. No. 1 this week could easily be voted out next week)
DAKAL
1. Yul Kwon. Not much will change this week for this tribe. They won the challenge, so they all had a good showing there. But we didn’t get to see a whole lot of their strategies this round, so Yul is going to hold onto his top spot based on his overall gameplay so far.
2. Sandra Diaz-Twine. Sandra keeps her second spot as well. Not only does she still have her hidden immunity idol, her puzzle work in the challenge was definitely MVP worthy.
3. Sophie Clarke. Sophie moves up a spot because of her showing in the challenge alongside Sandra. Sophie also has half of Kim’s idol, and Sophie let us know that was not a good move on Kim’s part.
4. Wendell Holland. We didn’t see much out of Wendell this episode, but it seems his position in the game is pretty solid at the moment. No. 4 seems like the right spot for him this week.
5. Nick Wilson. Like Wendell, Nick was just kind of there this week, but he definitely didn’t do anything to lost his position in the rankings, so he hold onto the No. 5 spot for now.
6. Tyson Apostol. Tyson moves up this week because, while he found himself at the mercy of the other’s last week, that was the right move for him. He managed to get the target off of himself by joining the others and distancing himself from the players he was being associated with from outside the game.
7. Tony Vlachos. Tony, along with Sarah, drops a spot this week because of their association with one another. The way this season is already shaping up, if you’re in the game with a close ally, you’re likely in trouble.
8. Sarah Lacina. Like Tony, Sarah is near the bottom here only because she’s being seen as a pair in the game, and that is an instant target.
9. Kim Spradlin-Wolfe. I hoped to move Kim up this week, especially since she found a hidden immunity idol, well half of an idol. But when she gave the other half to Sophie, and Sophie let us know that was a bad move, Kim was back at the bottom. Had they not won immunity, I’m not sure what would have happened, but I don’t think the idol would have been played successfully if Sophie wasn’t willing to save Kim.
SELE
1. Parvati Shallow. Parvati takes the top spot from Rob after his terrible showing in the immunity challenge. The two of them are clearly running the show, but she didn’t totally flop in the challenge, so here we are.
2. Rob Mariano. As I’ve already written, Rob was so terrible at the challenge, there’s no way I could rank him No. 1 this week. But the fact that he is still not the target and is in so much control of the game that he got people at tribal council to empty their bags during an idol raid, of sorts, proves he is the player to beat. So he loses top spot, but I couldn’t move him any lower. In fact, he and Parvati are basically tied for first. Let’s go with that.
3. Ethan Zohn. Ethan holds onto the No. 3 spot because he seems to be in a perfect position. He’s not being seen as a threat, and is a physical and social player. At the moment, he is one of the most well-rounded players in the game.
4. Jeremy Collins. Jeremy makes the biggest leap this week. He might be one of the main targets, but he now has actual power, well technically it’s “safety without power.” But to me, that’s still a lot of power. Natalie sold him the safety, so as long as he plays it when he needs it, he can save himself.
5. Adam Klein. Adam moves up a spot this week because he convinced Denise to give him half of the idol she found instead of Paravti.
6. Denise Stapley. I wanted to rank Denise higher than Adam this week, but then I remembered she was ready to give the other half of the idol she found to the best player on their tribe. Why would she have even considered giving that to Parvati? Absurd.
7. Michele Fitzgerald. Michele drops this week by default. She didn’t do anything wrong, and some would say to the contrary and praise her low-key game. But for now, I can’t rank her higher than people who actually made visible moves and strides.
8 . Ben Driebergen. Ben holds onto the bottom spot because he is a terrible player. Nothing he does makes sense and I really hope he goes soon so that actual players get a better shot at the game.
