Survivor producers flirted with the idea of bringing back the Redemption Island twist this season, but thankfully we’ve dodged that bullet as they’re going with a return of Survivor Exile Island for Season 29’s Blood Vs Water.
This will be the seventh appearance of the Exile Island twist for Survivor but even the twist is getting its own spin this time around. Instead of just being sent to Exile Island, the paired players will duel in a challenge with the winner returning to camp and the loser heading off to isolation until the next challenge.
As in previous seasons there will be a clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol which will be back at the real camp site. There will not be an Idol buried at Exile Island as we’ve sometimes seen with this twist. The added drama with this method is for the returning castaways to have to search for the Idol in front of the other players.
The new season of Survivor starts on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 8PM ET/PT with a 90-minute premiere episode and the lead in to the Big Brother finale!
