Survivor spoilers straight from Jeff Probst reveal a big change coming to the Game Changers’ Tribal Councils and how the voting is about to raise the pressure on this season’s castaways.
After having watched enough TCs where alliances split their votes to flush out Immunity Idols there’s a new approach to protect those Idols, an interesting combination with the season’s heightened interest in increasing Idols and their use at Tribal Council.
In an interview with EW.com Jeff Probst explained how the change would work: “One big twist we’re doing is at Tribal Council, if there’s a tie, there will be no revote,” explains the host. “We will go directly to the tiebreaker.”
Yikes. So Jeff goes on to say “it actually is not a significant change” only to later detail how this could be a, wait for it, “game changer!” I’d say this is a big difference after we’ve seen so many “let’s split the vote and see if [target] has an Idol.” This will add more risk to that move and could lead to the awful rocks situation. I’m not too crazy about the rocks method and am glad we haven’t seen it that much so anything that ups its frequency doesn’t sound appealing to me.
Things of course won’t immediately go to rocks if there’s a tie. Castaways will still have the chance to debate and reach a decision on which of the tied targets should be the one to go. If they can all agree on who gets the boot then it’s over for the night. If they can’t agree then out comes the bag with rocks and everyone else not voted against in the tie will be in danger. That’s craziness.
We’ll see if this becomes an issue or not during the upcoming Survivor 2017 when the season premieres next Wednesday, March 8th at 8/7c on CBS. You can watch the new season on All Access with every past episode of the series available on-demand.
