Get ready for double Survivor 2014 tonight with two episodes running back to back which is great timing for action-hungry fans like us after last week’s exciting turn of events. Let’s see what Survivor can offer up tonight.
Eight castaways remain and it’s only going to be more brutal as allies will be forced to turn on one another, but could that come as early as tonight? Preview clips have shown us tension between Jon and Jaclyn, but I think we all know she’ll have his back at vote-time. That might not be the case with everyone though.
With double episodes tonight I’ll be recapping both shows right here in one giant post. So with that let’s get ready as things start off with Huyopa’s return from Tribal Council where Wes was just eliminated and Reed and Alec should be in the hot seat for their failed coup attempt.
Arriving back at camp Jaclyn praises Natalie for convincing Jon to use the Idol as he would have otherwise been voted out. Jon tries to suggest he would have done it (yeah right), but no one there is buying his story either. This leads to an argument between the golden couple where Jon is upset that Jaclyn would give Natalie credit for smart game moves this close to Jury. She’s right that Natalie saved his butt, but he’s right that they should keep that to themselves. Could this disagreement cause them trouble? I doubt it.
Reward Challenge:
This a big reward. Winners get to go on a horseback ride to a huge picnic and then stay the night at a resort before returning in the morning. Wow!
Players have to answer questions about the other players in the game to take a chop at other players’ ropes which are holding rocks over their “skulls.”
Reed is first to be eliminated, but there’s plenty of resentment to go around so this should be fun. Yep, there goes Alec, but Keith won’t be far behind. Sure enough, Keith is done.
Jeff doesn’t get too far with them when it’s just the five players who are all together. He sees this is going to be a friendly exchange so he ends things right there and it goes to Missy.
Missy then lets Jon volunteer to go to Exile Island and picks Baylor and Natalie to go with her. Jaclyn is left behind to be at camp with the three opposing guys.
We get a rough exchange between Baylor and Reed when Reed tells Baylor she’s being a brat. Missy gets pissed off and Reed stands by his statement and they continue to argue before the ladies quit and walk off to their reward.
Jeff is quick to note that Jaclyn has been left behind after Jon made the sacrifice for their alliance. Reed, Alec, and Keith reinforce Jaclyn’s resentment over this decision by saying how tight Missy, Baylor, and Natalie are in the game.
Exile Island:
Jon gets a new clue at Exile for the next Hidden Immunity Idol that leads him out down the beach. Sure enough it doesn’t appear to take him long to get yet another Hidden Idol at Exile.
Reward:
Missy, Baylor, and Natalie dig in to all the food at their reward. Baylor and Natalie tell Missy that they found a Hidden Idol.
Camp:
Jaclyn is still upset about being left behind and the three guys look to capitalize on the opportunity Missy’s choice has created. They try to convince her that Missy, Baylor, and Natalie will turn on her and Jon to pave the way for their F3 deal. Hmm, will it work?
Immunity Challenge:
Today’s challenge is “Paddle Out” and requires castaways to balance six billiard balls on an oversized paddle. First to get them all in place will win Immunity. There’s not “out” in this comp, just one winner for the fastest to make it happen.
We’ve got a race between Jon and Keith who are both playing a great game here as both have three balls on their paddles. Soon Keith has another two and working on his sixth and final ball while Jon is trying to catch up to him. Nope, that isn’t going to happen. Keith wins Immunity!
Camp:
Jon is back so Jaclyn needs to get him caught up on their pivot position yet again. She tries to tell him about what’s been going on but Jon cuts her off and that sets off an argument between them. Jaclyn is frustrated that Jon feels like he’s got things covered and doesn’t need her in the game.
Reed comes over and makes his pitch but is soon interrupted by Natalie. Reed was pushing for a Missy blindside and Jon might be willing to play dice. Nothing is going to be easy though as Jon and Jaclyn can’t stop arguing which leaves the votes up in the air.
Tribal Council:
First and most importantly we need to discuss Jon and Jaclyn’s arguing. Sigh. Things finally get to the vote topic and Reed is making his pitch that they need to switch sides. Missy jumps on this and reminds them that just days before the guys were trying to blindside Jon.
Votes are tallied but no Idols are played. Votes: Reed, Missy, Reed, Reed, Reed, and Reed.
Reed Kelly was voted off Survivor tonight and the rest of the Huyopa tribe heads back to camp.
Camp:
Alec approaches Jon and tries to make the pitch that failed for Reed. Jon tells him he doesn’t think he’s willing to flip sides. He trusts the ladies and wants to press on with them even if it appears to be Survivor Suicide. Yeah, I think it just might be.
Reward Challenge:
This looks brutal. Players have to hold a block over their head and press a ball against the post in front of them. They’ll be doing this while perched on a four by four block below them. No way will this be easy. The reward is for a bed and food both to be delivered to camp.
Alec falls right away and is rightfully upset. Twenty minutes in and everyone else is still there. Wait, take that back. Missy is out next with Keith just behind him and Baylor soon follows as well. That leaves Jon, Natalie, and Jaclyn in the game.
Jon has been going back and forth making impressive saves in his effort but he soon loses out and falls. It’s down to Natalie and Jaclyn when Jaclyn’s ball pops out and the win goes to Natalie.
Natalie sends Alec to Exile before picking Jaclyn to enjoy the bed and dinner. Jeff lets Natalie pick one more person so she goes with Jon. Missy and Baylor immediately complain. Seriously.
In an aside to the camera Natalie tells us that she’s trying to draw Jon closer so he doesn’t see the knife when she puts it in his back for sending out Jeremy. Oh boy!
Reward:
Natalie is happily working to build Jon’s trust by wining and dining him and Jaclyn at their special delivery king sized bed and spaghetti dinner. Jon reveals he found the Idol and says he completely trusts Natalie. Natalie tells us that Jon shouldn’t feel so safe.
Camp:
Natalie goes to Baylor and says they should vote out Jon but keep Missy in the dark since she’s tight with Jon. Baylor agrees with the deal and the wheels start turning.
Jon and Jaclyn finally wake up and decide to help at camp. The couple heads off to get water and Jaclyn raises concerns that they might not be as safe as they think they are.
Immunity:
Players have to balance a wobbly table using a rope while they back across the playing field and set up ten blocks at their station without letting them topple over.
Keith takes yet another amazing lead before spilling his table and having to start over. Lots of tables tipping over here as Jon takes the lead when Keith takes another fall. Yep yep, there goes Natalie’s plan. Jon wins Immunity. Will this make Jaclyn the backup to undermine Jon’s position? That’d out Natalie’s secret mission, so I’m not expecting that switch.
Camp:
Natalie is frustrated that Jon can’t be sent home and now she needs a new plan. Jon wants to send Keith on out but suggests they split the votes in case either Alec or Keith has an Idol (they don’t).
Alec goes to Baylor in hopes of saving his butt. He doesn’t know it, but at the moment he’s safe despite his awkward attempts to build trust with Baylor. Meanwhile Natalie is telling Keith she would want to keep him over Alec. In fact, she has a plan.
If both Natalie and Keith vote out Alec then she could keep Keith around to battle against Jon while Alec is rather useless for her on that. Baylor isn’t thrilled with this and is pushing back against the idea of keeping Keith over Alec.
Tribal Council:
The final seven castaways settle in for a big vote. Jon gets in to his personal life and his father’s situation which leads to a discussion of whether a Jury would be swayed by a sad family story.
Keith puts it out there that someone could use his vote to help things along. Let’s see if Natalie is willing to ruffle the feathers of her alliance.
Votes are tallied and no Idols are played. Votes: Keith, Alec, Keith, Alec, Keith, Alec, and Alec.
Alec Christy was voted out of Survivor tonight. Jon and Missy look shocked. Seems Natalie put her plan in to action. Nice.
Next time on Survivor:
Oh snap. In the preview for next week’s Survivor we find out Missy has a medical emergency and needs an x-ray, but the only way they can do that is to pull her from the game. This of course could yet again thwart Natalie’s burning desire to eliminate Jon.
