Survivor 2018 David vs. Goliath gave us a 90-minute premiere last night, and we got to know a lot of the 20 new castaways. This episode wasn’t very competition heavy, so that was a bit different. Usually we don’t get a lot of personal stories from the players right out of the gate. That was refreshing.

We did get one mini-challenge right at the beginning which was sort of a way to size up the two tribes. The David tribe surprised us and beat the Goliath tribe, but they weren’t so lucky when it came to the actual immunity challenge a little later. The David tribe did hold their own, it wasn’t a wash by any stretch. But the Goliath tribe was victorious and walked away with the immunity idol for the first round of game.

The Davids headed back to camp, where they were faced with the tough decision of being the tribe to have to vote out the first person. But before they even got back to the beach, their boat hit a wave, sending the boat up in the air, and when it came back down, Pat injured his back. We are talking out on a stretcher, Jeff Probst pops in injured. In the end, the medic decides Pat needs medical attention they can’t provide on the beach and is pulled from the game. So we get a medical removal in the first episode.

Tribal council was canceled and Pat will count as the first person sent out of the game. The David tribe is down a tribemate, but at least they didn’t have to draw any lines in the sand by voting anyone out already.

Check out all those events in pictures below in our Survivor 37 Week 1 photo gallery. What did you think of the season premiere? Which tribe are you rooting for? Who do you think will be the dominate tribe? Will it be the obvious answer or will the underdogs prevail?
