Last week on the Survivor 43 premiere we watched as the three tribes of six castaways began their battle for the title of Sole Survivor and the $1 million grand prize. This season of Survivor 2022 kicked off with a two-hour premiere which included a Reward Challenge, a Prisoner’s Dilemma twist, and an Immunity Challenge. Vesi went on to win the first Reward Challenge, guaranteeing them basic essentials for their camp including flint, a machete, and a pot to cook in. Coco and Baka had to return to camp empty-handed but were given a Sweat or Savvy task where they either had to solve a puzzle or dig for their essentials. Coco chose to dig and Baka chose to solve a puzzle. They were given four hours to complete one of the tasks and both Baka and Coco managed to earn their flint, machete, and pot.
We then watched as Karla, Dwight, and Gabler ventured to an island for the Prisoner’s Dilemma twist of the night. They would choose to risk their vote or protect their vote. If they chose to risk their vote, they would then draw scrolls out of a bag and one of the people who made the risk would win an advantage and the others would lose their vote. Karla decided not to risk her vote, but the two guys did and Gabler ended up winning the advantage that was an Immunity Idol good for the first two Tribal Councils.
At the Immunity Challenge, two tribes were able to earn immunity and the one losing tribe would then have to decide on which of their tribemates were going to be heading home first. Vesi and Coco managed to pull off the wins in this challenge leaving Baka to make a difficult decision.
