Survivor Spoilers: Will The Hourglass Twist Return To Survivor 42?

With the “merge” coming up next week on Survivor 42, there are a lot of questions swirling. Like will they follow the same game-changing twist as last season that set Erika on a winning path?

It’s starting to look that way. Based on the preview for next Wednesday’s episode, the merge is upon them, but like last season it’s not so cut and dry. Jeff Probst tells them to drop their buffs, but then is all like, eh it’s not quite merge… just like last season.

That suggests that the players will compete in a challenge to earn immunity and their spot in the merged tribe. And that also suggests someone will be picked to head off to Exile Island where they will likely be faced with the same dilemma as Erika. They will be given the chance to change the course of the game by decided if the outcome of the challenge holds or is to be reversed.

It’s possible we could see some changes in this format, but that’s doubtful as nothing so far has been any different than last season. The good news is, they could only do these twists these two seasons as they’re filmed back-t0-back. Future seasons will know what to expect, so they will have to switch things up then.

The one difference is that the next episode is two hours, which means we likely won’t have to wait a full week to find out if the hourglass is broken and the twist is activated.

And of course there is a slight possibility that things will be different this season. No one I’ve spoken to believes this, but hey, you never know.

Be sure to join us back here Wednesday night for our latest live recap of Survivor 42 as we find out what happens within those two hours.
