Survivor 2017 Season 35 Theme Announced: Heroes Vs Healers Vs Hustlers

Survivor 2017 continues with another season this fall, the series’s 35th installment, and there’s clearly no stopping these silly names. Of course when you’ve got a backdrop of Fiji I guess you can call it whatever you want, but seriously, come on Jeff!

The Survivor theme next season is “Heroes Vs Healers Vs Hustlers,” clearly a win for the alliteration fans in the Survivor crowd. And yeah, it’s just like it sounds. We’ve got a Marine, a lifeguard, and more with the Heroes. There’s a surgeon and a physical therapist with the Healers. Then you’ve got the guy who enjoys a nice turtleneck on the Hustlers. Huhwhat? Anyway, it’s Survivor and I’m excited for more of it!

At the end of Game Changers, just after Sarah Lacina was crowned the winner, Jeff Probst introduced the next season and the return of three tribes to start it off.

The preview clip for next season introduces us to Ben, a Marine, on the Heroes tribe. He speaks of honor, commitment, and doing things not just for the credit or praise. Ashley is the lifeguard who is ready to not race to help others if they’re struggling.

With the Healers we’ve got Mike who promises surgical expertise to take out his opponents. Desi is a physical therapist who admits playing Survivor will force her to take a selfish angle despite being very selfless in her life.

For our Hustlers, they’ll do anything to achieve their goals. Ali is a personal assistant who says she can do all those things in Survivor that you have to do, even if you don’t want to do them. Wait, does she mean like when you only have leaves and no tp? Then there’s Ryan, he’s a bellhop and weighs in around 125 pounds. Seriously? He’s a huge Survivor fan though and ready to live out his dream here.

It’s an interesting mix of players from what we’re seeing so far, but as I said before I think it’s time to ditch these ridiculous forced groupings and just introduce us to an awesome group of castaways. I don’t really care what they did back home, I want to see what they can do for the next 39 days.

The next season of Survivor will start in September 2017 although CBS hasn’t set a date yet for the premiere. I’m expecting it to kick off the same night as the Big Brother 19 season finale so that should be another fun few hours.
