Last night on the Survivor 2015 season premiere of Second Chance the new batch of familiar faces hit the beaches, but it couldn’t be all smiles and sunshine forever. Time to find out who was voted off Survivor this week.

Survivor returned with a 90-minute episode ahead of the BB17 finale and that gave us lots of time to remember all of these castaways from past seasons of Survivor.

We got all the castaways re-introduced and split up in to their tribes before heading off to the bare campsites that are about to get a lot of building going on. No excuses for the unknown of what to do when it comes to getting their camp set up.

Jeff doesn’t waste any time launching the first challenge. Castaways are split in to two tribes and learn that there is one bag of rice waiting for both tribes, Ta Keo and Bayon. They have to load up their rafts for as long as they’ll risk before leaving the main boat to race for the rice.

Kelly Wiglesworth takes off swimming for the rice and leads the rafts but soon Joe Anglim dives in to challenge her for the Bayon tribe. Woo ends up getting their first and the rice goes to Ta Keo.

Time to head to camp and get things set up. Both camps, Bayon and Ta Keo, are friendly and happy as they work on setting up shelter and settling in.

Kelley is off collecting tree branches while sneaking looks for the hidden idol. Sure enough she finds something, but it’s not the idol, it’s a clue. Kelley has to find the idol during the actual competition challenge when they drop off their raft. Yikes, that’s going to be risky!

Immunity Challenge:
Tribes have to push a fire burning raft (they should have set the raft on fire!) while lighting torches along the way. Once they’ve arrived at the shore they have to assemble a long pole, lift a key, and then unlock the gate to reach the finish line.

Along the way Kelley does manage to reach go back and snag the hidden idol despite the risk and having missed an initial opportunity. It’s a good thing too because her tribe, Ta Keo, loses the comp and Kelly feels responsible after bungling the pole-build.

Tribal Council:
Surprise! Jeff says they’re going straight to tribal with no time to prepare.

Everyone is freaking out, like they should, as Jeff goes around the room. Abi-Maria calls out an all-guys alliance, but Vytas says there is no such thing. Uh oh, Abi-Maria is really getting worried and starting to stress. Is she tonight’s target?

Jeff asks if there is an elephant in the room. Varner says that if there is, they’re about to find out. It’s time to vote!

Votes: Vytas, Abi, Vytas, Abi, Vytas, Abi, Vytas, Abi, Vytas, and Vytas.

    The best part tonight was watching Kelly trying to get that idol. and it was so exciting when she finally did.

  160. Late to the party, been a busy night, but I was so pleased to see smarmy Vytas leave the island first. Never could stand that guy and I’m so glad to see Shirin is here to play the game this year.

  163. Ahhhh, taking in the vivid aroma of the outdoors ~ Great beginning to a great season. What a thrill to see the 1st challenge from the 1st season played again.

  169. Thank the reality gods “Madnessa 17″ is over and Survivor: Second Chance is on! Excellent start to the season and who saw that first vote – off coming? Great to see Shirin already…………………”playing the game”! The new “hidden immunity idol” system is pretty cool! Way to change it up…………….take notes Julie Chen. So far my “favorites” are Shirin, ,Peih – Gee, and Jeremy. Can’t wait until next episode. 4 THE RETURN OF CHAOS KASS, I am Nobody!!!

  174. Two things on this episode I really liked :
    First, hiding the idol in the actual challenge. Brilliant! It was getting stale having everyone know to go look in obvious hiding spots. I hope the rest of the idols are hidden the same way.
    Next, going straight to tribal from the challenge. No chance to gang up on anyone, and if they do this the rest of the season, it will force people to have a strategy already planned in advance. Nice twist for people who already know the game.

  176. It’s my first season to watch since season 1. And since I don’t know any of these people, I may not be so accurate with their past mistakes, but possibly on their more recent ones! LOL

  179. Ha! I promise. We are in the same alliance after all. :-) I really like a lot of these returning players. It will be a fun season for you to watch. Should be a lot of high level play.

  182. gasp! jonigab, u slacker. lol, I’m sooooo just kiddiiiiiiiinnnnnggggg(just in case u missed Liz/Julia lol). I’ve always been a late series goer in the past. I didn’t start watching bb until several seasons in and same w survivor. but once I saw them, I was hooked and watched all old seasons and never stopped. HOWEVER, I am forgetful. I remember more survivor people than bb people for some reason, but my memory of those I know is less detailed on specific stuff and more of the I liked/disliked them. (Hulu has a lot of old seasons, btw). anyway, glad ur here. I figured I’d judge them on this current seasons action, but I’ll be honest-abi has already irritated me and I was ready for her to go pretty quick into episode.

  189. I think I’m the odd guy out. I’m not rooting for joe. although he is a great player and it’s not a personal dislike of the dude, I just never got on the joe wagon.

  190. “Building Shelter !” I always thought the best shelter would be a “tee-pee” Cut some bamboo 24 feet long, tie them together at one end and spread them out. Cover with palm frons, a door and your all set. You can build a small fire in the middle for warmth. At least that’s what I would suggest.

  191. Yes, she’s known for making pivotal vote that change the course of the game, going against the majority. Very vocal, and not afraid to make surprising moves..she’s a player.

  192. that’s what I thought. I did not consider her evil/villain. I saw her actions as one out of necessity for her game.

  193. I was a little disappointed that Vytas was voted out instead of Abi . That woman is so negative, defensive, and hostile. I blame Shirin for influencing several of the guys to distrust Vytas. I think Shirin’s days are numbered this time, alon g with Abi on this tribe and unless Cass has improved her social game considerably I think that her tribe will want to eliminate that snake sooner rather than later.

Ya, I know, you’ll tell me to go look it up &I I will, but just saying, since there’s a lot of newbies here too (I’ve watched since S1) but how many players is that inclusively … Approx 350-400? And for many, doing lots of research about the players may deter their interest. Unfortunately, I suffer from Swiss cheese memory:D

  206. Eww; guess I missed that but will plan to avert my eyes when I re-watch this episode this weekend; guess Production missed this one. Last year, Shirin ran around bottomless for the first few episodes; so glad that was blurred, otherwise I’d have to rip my eyeballs out!

  209. Well, at least they are trying to shake it up a little unlike BB presenting same/similar comps in the same order these past many years. Additionally, I give huge kudos to Russel Hantz as the first player to find an immunity idol without a clue … He just went out and did it, and it’s trended ever since!

I’m thrilled that shelters were built this year without a lot of urinating contests; that is, ANYONE who dared to take the lead to set up camp was looked at as a threat in past seasons – the attitude was like: so you think your our leader? Never understood that mentality … Good grief, get shelter built, start a fire and boil the water before the damn sun sets!

  214. robin, I’ve watched every season, every episode. Smart thing to do is keep your tribe numbers up, vote the weak out. Get to the merge with numbers. Getting rid of Vytas was stupid, the whole tribe will be practically decimated for the merge. A member of the Bayon tribe will win, perhaps Joe!

  215. Cuddles, the Ta Keo team sealed their own doom. The trick is to make it to the merge with numbers, and that means keeping the strong folks playing. But they kept Abi. Bad move. A member of the Bayon tribe will win.

  216. Talula, of course great teams keep their strongest till the merge. Ta Keo is over, they will be decimated shortly.

  217. Shirin was simply an awful person, a liar, a fake in the previous season. Hope she goes soon, with Abi.

  221. ikr. I get wanting him out but he wouldn’t have been my first. shirin is right w him having “connections” and I applaud the gaming early, I just think they overlooked needing to get to merge. they got rid of one of their better strength/endurance guys.

  224. Agreed, she PLAYS to win. Period. And the very best players go for the gold, they don’t hang on just to get to second or third place.

  230. Gervase was from season 1 originally, but we saw him lately in Blood vs Water 1, he came with his niece Marissa.

  238. Captain, I agree. The editors of this show do a fantastic job creating story lines throughout each episode, each season, don’t they?

  239. Like you, I have also watched every episode of every season of Survivor and I guess that makes us a couple of diehard fans,Gregory. I agree that it was very foolish of them to vote out Vytas when they have several weaker (and more negative) players that could have gone. It’s always a big mistake to let some of the weaker female players and the lazy players advance and manipulate the votes. I do, however, like the idea of not letting the losing tribe return to their camp, but rather, sending them straight to their vote. I hope that trend continues…it would make for a much more interesting tribal council I think.

  240. You’re so right about prior seasons jumping on anyone showing responsibility–lazy kids banding together to vote out anyone with an idea, losing every comp, then witch hunt for TC. This season is shaping up to be lots more interesting. I agree-hoping Shirin & Abi don’t last too long, their drama, all about me attitude is almost as annoying as Vanessa on BB.

  241. Why was Vytas the target? Connections with the other tribe or his attempts to be social? Intrusive yoga stretches? Got to strike the right balance between social threats and keeping enough strength on the tribe to win comps.

  243. Also a long time die hard fan & agree some new twists are fun, instant TC and hiding the Idols at comps. Read on another site, players were shouting ‘who are you leaning toward’ walking to TC so there may be some rash decisions made if they don’t strategize back at camp. Seems in the last couple of years Jeff leads alot more discussion at TC, but I’m not sure how much that effects deals they make before they sit down. Think I catch eye contact and whispers or touches, but I’m not sure!

  244. So with you, Shirin was horrible and exploited her childhood abandonment issues after bullying everyone else all season. I hope she doesn’t hijack this season too.

Shirin approached some of the male tribe members complaining that Vytas was trying to build relationships with some of his female tribe members and that he knew people on the other tribe from his previous season and was, therefore, a threat when they eventually merge. It would have been much smarter to vote off Abi Marie who brings only negativity to her tribe.

So I’ve become defined by the shows I watch as not being smart for not having watched Survivor before now??? hahahaha Up until this past year I’d been busy with a granddaughter and son attending his last year of college…so didn’t have a lot of time for t.v. Now that my grandbaby is more secure in her second home in 2 years, I can rest a bit easier and have my own kind of fun!

  258. The answer would be “yes” to your question. LOL!!! But yep, granddaughters & sons take priority over t.v.
