Tonight on Survivor 2019: Edge Of Extinction Season Premiere

Survivor 2019 kicks off it’s 38th season tonight as 18 castaways will possibly be faced with the new game-changing twist Edge of Extinction.

That’s right, 18 players total, made up of 14 newbies and four returnees (Joe Anglim, Kelley Wentworth, David Wright and Aubry Bracco) will begin the quest to become the Survivor 38 Sole Survivor tonight. This season once you’re gone, though, you might not be out. After a player’s torch is snuffed, he or she will have the choice of either heading home or heading to the Edge of Extinction. Survivor is touting the chance to get back in the game the toughest twist yet. We don’t have details how it will work, but we’re pretty sure it will be similar to Redemption Island. We should expect each player to face-off with the previously eliminated player each round until it’s time for the ultimate winner re-enter the game.

Survivor host Jeff Probst explained to TV Insider how the twist is introduced after the tribal council.

“The key element is surprise. There’s that moment at tribal council when someone’s name on the parchment has just been read out and you see that look of “Oh, my God, after all I’ve sacrificed, it’s over.” Then they walk down a long path — they don’t know we’re still shooting — and come to a signpost that offers one question: Have you had enough, or do you want more? And that’s the extent of it!” – Jeff Probst
