Survivor 2016 will debut in February and delivers the 32nd season of Survivor with the return of the Brains vs Brawn vs Beauty theme as 18 castaways across 3 tribes compete for the million dollar prize.
While Survivor Second Chance just wrapped up the next season was actually filmed before the most recently aired installment. That change left a window for Survivor spoilers including who would be the 2016 cast. The new season’s sneak peek confirms several of those names.
On the Brains tribe of Chanloh we see Debbie and Liz. Totang, the Brawn tribe, reveals Scot and Cydney. For Beauty, Gondol, we meet Tai and Caleb, who you might remember from Big Brother the other summer. Yes, Beast Mode has followed the path of Hayden Moss in the leap from one CBS reality series to another. We have the rest of the Survivor 2016 cast reveal as well.
Just as the spoilers suggested there are going to be a lot of medical issues in this upcoming season with no less than three evacuations as these castaways are said to push themselves beyond their limits. Considering all the drama this season from Joe’s collapse this should be interesting to see its impact on next season.

Matt: Wish we knew more about why this iteration was taped before s31? Since S32 is in the can, that means the cast have had to wait nearly a YEAR before a winner is announced. I’ve always known that each season’s contestants had to wait nearly 5 months before showing up at the reunion show, but this is an incredibly long wait for the S32cast?
This isn’t just idle curiosity – I mean 3 players are going out on medical issues (S32); your write up even says this is the toughest or hardest ever – if Cambodia posed these “threats” (for BBB), why would they do another back-to-back season there (S31)? This question sounds so sass-backwards because of the season id’s versus the televised id’s.
Honestly Mary, I try to never stare at a car wreck on the highway (because it slows everything down) but I swear, I’m all “atwitter” (who really says that!) to see what’s going to happen regarding the medical evacuations!
My concern is: why does Survivor keep presenting challenges that almost guarantees the players will get hurt. Oh, that challenge where Tasha nearly drowned; didn’t Spence misstep on one of the platforms and went down – it looked like he ran his shin bone done the platform and hit his chin, or something. Anything with the shin or knee injuries gives me the heebie jeebies because I had a knee replacement this year, and these type of injuries give me the shivers! ?
I don’t know if you ever saw Jeff’s short-lived morning talk show, but one episode addressed his style of dressing – and specifically his shirts. They are “designer” shirts; which translates as very expensive. Yeah, I know they look casual, but, heh, only the best for our best host, ever.
I actually heard “I’m all atwitter” recently on a program (Murdoch Mysteries), I really like it, makes me think of something my dear departed granny would say.
I’ve thankfully never had knee replacement but my sister has had both replaced and it’s gruesome, I hope you are doing okay now. The challenges on Survivor are getting more extreme every season and I get the shivers as well watching them.
Hey, if I made the mega-bucks he does, I’d wear nothing but the best as well. I think his favorite colour is blue, he wears that the most. And I agree Margaret, only the best for our best host ever :-)

Keep taking your calcium; joint replacement is – on one hand – terrifying and horrible — and one the other hand, a blessing. I have a cousin (4 years younger than me) who had both knees and one hip replaced during the past 2 years – she’s a trooper, but God Almighty, one joint is enough!
Hope your Sis is adapting well and doing okay! But we will never get to run like a normal person again – that’s the biggest dissapointment. But we can live vicariously with all these “youngsters” doing all these crazy challenges – but it does make us concerned for anyone to get hurt during This whole entertainment venue. One of the worst ever injuries on Survivor was that guy who fell in the campfire and caught himself with his hands; he ran into the ocean and the skin on his hands were literally melting off! Oh God, I hope this season isn’t that horrible!
Yep, only th best – I can’t imagine his net worth. I’ll also bet his hair cuts are a couple $100 bucks a pop! But man-oh-man; does he work hard for his money or what??
He DOES work hard for his money but I’ll just bet his accommodations are first-class while on site for Survivor (air-conditioning, showers, hot/cold running water, chef etc., etc., etc.)

REALLY good question, Margaret. This is just my opinion, but I’m thinking that each and every player wants to prove how hard they are…that they’re no ‘cake’…they’re He-Men and She-Ra: Masters of the Universe! But seriously, put dehydrated, hungry, tired and worn down (physically and mentally) people in Cambodia (or any incredibly humid area) and you’re asking for medical issues. But, you have to remember, it makes for good TV. Just ask Les et al, how much cash they’re raking in because WE love to watch. And BTW, I’ve enjoyed you this season so very much—and I look forward to seeing you during “Beast Mode Survivor!”
On Survivor, they had burns, heart attacks, bowel obstruction, poisonous plant and critters, spiders and snakes etc.. A million bucks is at stake, so the contestants are probably willing to take more risks than they should. They do have a very good “Medical Risks Assessment team”
There’s a good article I read about their Medical team on location/on call. It’s the best in world I’m sure. They will intervene when it’s appropriate but without giving an unfair advantage. Hydration, IV fluids on occasions….so they will stitch you, but not give you comfort. lol
They also said, a decision to evacuate a contestant is always in the best interests of the contestant- not the show… How dangerous it is really out there?…that answer is, sort of.

You know, Jeff is not just the host, he’s also a producer and a partner of Mark Burnett. So he has a big financial stake and reward in making the show successful.
Great assessment; great analysis and yes, you’re right; these players are going for it! I just postulated that if the environment is harder than’ever’ (?), why put any group thru this – but in retrospect – all the survivor environs have been horrendously challenging! I do not doubt that they have the best medical teams on standby – OMG – look at the swim team this season that went in for Tasha. I’ll google for that info you cited; sounds awesome, but I would expect no less from Survivor to keep everyone UBER safe!

Well Survivor had to be challenging this next season (32), especially with “Beast Mode Cowboy” making the jump from BB. We’ll see if a “pretty girl” trips him up again. Nobody 4 LATER!!!
Wow, Cyril, great articles; just read both that you cited. I remember Colton Cumbie’s 2nd season (with his fiancé Caleb Bankston) and Jeff kind of inferred he was not convinced about Caleb’s first season’s evacuation (gut ache or something) … and Jeff iterates that in the first article as well as during Colton’s 2nd season.
Really fascinating – the cost of setting up the med facilities must be ginormous! Can you imagine what a crazy, unique job these medical folks have? But it does put my mind at peace to know they really have great medical care on standby!
BTW: Off topic, Caleb was killed in 2014 during some freak railroad accident – I loved him and couldn’t believe how patient he was with Colton – who drove me crazy!
Margaret, my cousin is a very good friend of Michael Skupin…the gentleman who was burned. I’ll never forget that episode. I was horrified. I’m terrified of being burned.
I remember Skupin getting his 2nd chance episode – he seemed to take it in stride (with his healing and all) but then they did the reunion show and showed Michael’s injury all over again. It was devastating! Not to be nosy, but does your friend know if Skupin is doing okay – I would imagine there are some type of residual effects?
I understand there are support groups for burn victims – I can only imagine the horror and pain of severe burns!
Cyril and I were talking about the emergency medical support (above) that Survivor has for the cast. Bet Skupin’s jnjury was the first in their books – I can’t stop thinking about how the skin on his hands were ‘dripping’! I’ll stop now, because it gives me the heebie jeebies!
I know what you mean about the heebie jeebies, Margaret…watching that when it happened (2001?), I had nightmares for weeks. I didn’t see him in the Philippines—was that his second chance season? Anyway, yeah—he seems to be doing really well. It’s funny we’re talking about this because my cousin and I just talked about him maybe three weeks ago. I don’t know if he attends any kind of support group (he is a man, after all).
When I was 12, one of my very good friends was burned over 70% of his body. I made the mistake of visiting him. That was back in ’74 and they didn’t put burn patients in an induced coma like they do now. Talk about traumatizing! That’s why watching Michael getting burned totally freaked me out. But, yes—he’s doing well. Honestly though—just between you and I—I don’t think he’d complain or let anyone know if he’s still having trouble…like I said: he is a man, after all. ;)
I know. It’s amazing how massive their Outback ER is. Half a mil of med supplies and equipment. They basically brought a level 1 trauma center in the island.
I was shocked about Caleb’s death. I really like him in his season. He was the level headed one….and Colton, he was something else….thanks for the info Margaret.
Dear Sharona: thank you for sharing this story about your friend and it breaks my heart! God! I hate tragedy … I know we all hate suffering and it really has an impact on us especially when it becomes personal!

When I was a snotty teenager, it drove me nuts…but I’d give anything to hear her say it to me again! But the most wonderful gift I’ve ever received, is that I was with mom when she passed; and right before she did (and I’m not kidding) I said that blessing to her…and within minutes she was gone. (HUGE smile) So again my dear Margaret, have a blessed Holiday!
That Cat is crazy! Poor Amber…he screwed her game up though, not the other way around. That’s just my opinion. He absolutely freaked me out when he’d put his hoodie up and stare at Cody and Amber….while playing with a knife. It’ll be a trip watching him on Survivor!

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and private interaction with you and your mum- I have heartfelt tears regarding your story -joy, happiness, sadness that your mum is gone, but how endearing and loving! The incantation or prayer is wonderful … PS: you weren’t the only snotty teenager (and in my case:a know-it-all … Which I realize now I really knew nothing then! Ha!?) Parents are amazing!

Yes, tis me. I loved Matt’s BBN forum and someone from there refered me to this site … Especially love the forum crossover of a lot of the folks. I think we’re Matt fans as well as of the CBS shows!? Agree; BB is a lot crazier – we get daily input with BBAD, 24 hour access and 3 shows a week … So there’s our fuel for the fire!
I know there are always some sour apples on a lot of forums, and I know that you, Captain and Brian5150, can counterpoint, debate (and jab -when necessary) to shut down the hecklers or sour pusses. But I’m telling you (and you probably know this) there are sites where the language is so harsh it makes my eyes bleed!? (It’s usually two people fighting over opposing points of view but they’re not debating – it’s like a schoolyard fight (with words).

Margaret, I feel blessed by your post and I thank you for the prayer requests. I love prayers, giving and sending! I truly believe that we are blessed to have my Dad one more Christmas because of the prayers of many good people. I only would like to keep my Dad with us as long as he wants to stay, if that makes sense. As of now, he says he is ready when the time comes, but not today. He still tries to smack me wherever he can reach me when I start my silly Karen talk to him. He and I are the perfect cut-ups together and on days that my 79 year old Mom works, I tend to try to start something with him just for the fun of it and to catch a peek of that twinkle in his eye.
I started this post last night and am finally getting time to finish it. Big Christmas dinner at my house today so the kitchen is HOT! Merry Christmas and thanks again for any prayers.

Sorry that I am just getting back to you. I haven’t checked Disqus since I posted to you. Please forgive me. My grandchildren went back to school on Tuesday and I have been playing catch up since then.
I think you understand a whole lot about having a parent in home hospice. It sounds like besides being a comical beauty inside and out, (you changed your avatar back….good heavens, you really are gorgeous…but I don’t remember which gal you were in the other pic) that you were also a wonderful, loving and caring daughter. I’m sure your Mom was very thankful for you and proud of you. If you had asked me 3 months ago if I thought my Dad would have lived to see 2016, I would have said probably not. He has good days still, but not often. I went and spent some time with him this morning while my Mom was gone to town. I made him laugh; he made me laugh. I will miss talking to him. He is a wise man.
Are you ready for another season of Survivor? I hope to get a chance to post during a few episodes. I really do miss you guys. You ALWAYS bring a smile to my face. I don’t see many people. You and Cyril, especially, provide me with a lot of interaction and entertainment that my life is void of.
I try not to talk about my health issues any more than I have to. Everyone has problems and many worse than mine. I use to be very outgoing, sing publicly, and loved being around people, but not so much anymore. I have neurological disorders(Spasmodic Dysphonia, Meige Syndrome, Blepharospasms)which have affected my voice and my appearance. I get embarrassed and people can be cruel. I admit that it has greatly affected my confidence, so it’s “freeing” to be able to express myself again since I started using a computer a couple of years back. I’m not good at it, but I’m still learning, and no one has to listen to my weird voice or look at me. I’m not the type to feel sorry for myself and very much dislike pity. I just want to thank you for being so very kind and “getting” my sense of humor. It has been locked away for a while. You’ve been a blessing.

My Dear, Sweet Karen…
If this helps AT ALL…you’ll know when it’s time and so will your Dad. And while it won’t be easy, God provides us the grace to get through that particular moment. I never believed that until I went through it myself. I still miss my Mom—to the point of tears–DAILY–but, it has gotten easier. The last few weeks while she was still at home (I HAVE to laugh about this), she thought I was trying to kill her. Lol…it’s not funny, but it IS funny. Once she went into the actual Hospice Home—a wonderful place…kind of like a hotel, she went into a semi-coma. I stayed at night; then go home and get a couple hours of sleep while my sis from SC came up—then she stayed at night (but actually I was still there. Didn’t want to leave). Two days before she passed, I was checking her bedsore, and she WOKE UP(!) and said, “Oh honey, how long have I been sleeping?” I asked her if she was still mad at me, and she said, “Oh Darlin’, I could never be mad at you. I LOVE you!” She was only cognizant for another 5 minutes, but it was a gift.
( I meant this to be about you—not me!)
K, my sister has Spasmodic Dysphonia. She had a beautiful voice—a lyric soprano. She somehow taught herself to ‘talk’ again. I saw what she went through and how people would get SO impatient with her while she was trying to finish her sentences. I can’t even imagine how we each deal with our different challenges. It was kind of weird putting my picture up. In 4 years, I’ve aged a lot and my body…well, RA–what can I say? It’s wonderful to be able to hide behind computers…so we can be ourselves again. I have to say, you are a brave and strong woman. I just know it. You put off that vibe. I know a little about locking away humor. Won’t go into it, but losing my sense of humor was one of THE most devastating and darkest things, ever. BBN allowed me to get it back , anonymously, and test the waters. You and Cyril were the first two to befriend me…jeez..I keep turning this back to ME! Sorry. I love you K, for what you’ve brought back into my life. Thank you for sharing with me. You’re the funniest, sweetest, filthiest woman I know! And I mean that in the best possible way. Hope to see you at Survivor…if not—there’s always BB…or you can always send a note in an old, old post. NOW who has written a book? Take care. If anything happens, let me know.
