The final round of Survivor Second Chance vote-off’s sent us three Ponderosa segments to check out as Kimmi, Keith, and Kelley all took turns arriving at the Jury resort.
It wasn’t a good night to have a name starting with “k” as we saw these three head out in to the jungle with their torches snuffed. Luckily there was something nicer waiting for them at Ponderosa with warm welcomes for all.

I loved Keith’s video – he is just what he is – every last particle of his being is so honest! He says: Well, yeah, come to Louisiana; we’ve got lots of things to shoot (or kill). He’s just Keith and I love him.
The Kelly video was priceless because it really brought everybody’s viewpoint together at the end and their appreciation for a 2nd chance. It made me cry because it was like – I don’t know, like when you take someone to the airport, and you just cry sending off your loved one. This video was a great wrap for this season! Loved it!

Thanks! I grew up with re-runs of 50’s and 60’s TV shows. When there were only two channels on the TV, there wasn’t much on.
Rut-row ~~ I remember when The Ponderosa was b&w on tv … I think ‘in living color’ for Bonanza started in 1964. I recently found a cable station “Buzzr” that’s running all the old game shows ~~ lotsa fun. Match Game, To Tell the Truth, I’ve got a Secret, Tattletales, etc. I’m getting more nostalgic in my 70’s.
In the late 50s, I thought it was fantastic to turn the tv on a Sunday night around 6pm, and watch the Wonderful World of Disney … I loved Mighty Mouse on Saturdays and don’t remember what time of day Superman was aired, but that guaranteed a few flying jumps off the arms of the couch – which made my mom nuts! (You kids are going to kill yourself jumping off that couch – stop it!) There were loads of westerns, Sky King, The Lone Ranger, Death Valley, Have Gun Will Travel and so many others yet broadcasting still went off the air around midnight. By the late 60s we had a color tv, and couldn’t wait fo Star Trek on Friday night – if we were grounded, we were not allowed to watch Star Trek – that was the worst punishment, ever!
BTW: History Channel had a great segment on this year called, American Genius. One of the episodes was about the development of the television (and some nasty business maneuvers involved with getting tv to all households); the segment is called Farnsworth versus Sarnoff – the poor Iowa boy who envisioned tv versus the Pres of RCA/Philco … Highly recommend this series in general. Gosh, are we being nostalgic because it’s the end of the year??
I just wrote a nostalgic comment to Sharona (below) … My guess is maybe we (or just me) start to feel this way as one year is to end, and a new year will be ushered in very soon!
I keep thinking ‘Secret’ had something to do with Gary Moore and ‘Truth’ had Kitty Carlyle (?), but isn’t Arlene Dahl in there somewhere? Well, thank goodness for these re-runs – it’s a great memory assist for me; all I can say as time goes by, my memory fades a little more.
Some days I don’t know which is worse ~ my short term or long term memory??? I seem to need a ‘trigger’ and some of these game shows does it for me. Luv seeing Betty White ~ she was just about on all of them ~ and her sweet adorable antics.

Oh my gosh…are you my long lost sister? We watched the Wonderful World of Disney too. SATURDAY was the best night in my house. Mom would make fudge and popcorn and we’d watch “The Lawrence Welk Show.” We’d also watch Ed Sullivan on Sunday’s too. My dad was on that show TWICE!! First time, Eddie Fischer was the guest host. Second time, he met Ed. He was part of a marching drill team called “The Zouaves”. He was also in “The Court Jester” with Danny Kaye. Danny would get caught in the intricate choreography of my dad’s drill team. It really was something to behold. They’d step like, 70 times a minute—something like that. Cool, huh?
I watch the History Channel ALL of the time, so I know exactly the program of which you speak. Maybe we’re being nostalgic because of the time of year, but I’m always talking about stuff like this. Now, go spit on your mini pad. :-D

Know what you mean about the memory, but that’s interesting that shows are a trigger … Hmmm, need to try that. Honest to goodness, I can watch a Chopped episode and know I’ve seen it before, but I can’t remember the ingedients or who won, so I’ll watch it again – like it’s brand new!? Crazy, huh?
Love the Betty! She is so amazing and active to this day! She had a show with Valerie Bertinelli – Hot in Cleveland – which I didn’t watch because I didn’t know about it. Anyway, Vallerie has a cooking show on Foodnetwork, and one episode she cooked a meal for all the gals on Cleveland – it was great to see Betty in Valerie’s kitchen. They reminisced that the ONLY thing Betty loved everyday for lunch was tuna fish. See, silly junk like that I can remember! So who are the 2016 political candidates? Ya see what I mean? ? Either it’s Swiss cheese memory or selective memory for me!
I had to find out about the Zouaves before responding to you – yep, a full history on Wikipedia of the French-Algerian Zouaves to their involvement in the American Civil War (and WW involvements.) At the end of the article the Jackson MI Zouaves are mentioned regarding their appearance on the Ed Sulliven Show and being in Danny Kaye’s movie, the court jester. How fascinating that your dad was part of this! Does he still have the whole uniform – pantaloons, fez, sash? OMG – I hope so! I would put those items in a shadow box or something! How fantastic! Also, someone on the Internet has a 1930 silent film of the Zouaves doing their drill – at the end, they go to a tall wall (maybe 10 feet) of plywood, and scale it – the last 2 guys use their rifles, hold the rifles up to everyone on top who has scaled the wall, and then they are pulled over – honest to God, it looked like a Survivor challenge!

You are such a goof-ball! (one of them things I luvs aboutcha!) That’s so funny. I’m going to start saying that in random places, to random people. Like at the grocery store, and they ask if I have any coupons or bottle slips, I’ll say, “Nope. Not today…pao.” But say it like a word. And if someone at the doctor’s office asks me what time it is, I’ll say, “Twenty minutes after Pao.” Wouldn’t that be a HOOT? The hard part for me will be keeping from laughing. If I had a friend with me, it wouldn’t be a problem…but the fact that only I know what it is, might make me crack up and not get it out. You know what I mean? Anyhoo. Do you have plans for the Holidays? I’m staying home and doing a “Walking Dead” binge. I’ve never seen it, so I figured I could do it on Christmas Eve and Day. And I’ll probably binge on really unhealthy food, too.

OM Goodness; I had to google Valerie’s show when she was a teen: One Day At A Time. I watched it a little bit, but I think the big draw was this was a show about a single mom – kind of groundbreaking for the time. So the moral to my story is I have to google for info since (apparently) accessing my own brain renders very little results!?

It was a trip going to a Chinese market. Have you ever been to a huge Chinese grocery? I had couple of my buddies with me. They have a lot of exotic fruits, and their meat/seafood section? Unidentified flying objects. I recognized the turtles. Oh, they have over-head speakers blasting Christmas carols/Chinese. We were a lil buzzed, So we were humming/singing the song while pushing the cart. We were cracking up because I was actually nailing the melody in Chinese. ha. I mean..you know..Let’s get to the spirit. (we were still singing on the way home)

My niece? She’s 35 and a Nurse Practitioner, so I purposely say nonsensical things whenever I talk to her.
I have been to China Town in NYC in 1982. If I recall they had open markets of all things frightening. That’s why I watch “Bizarre Foods” with Andrew Zimmern, so I know what some of those scary things are.
I love the scene in “A Christmas Story” when the dogs ate the turkey so the fam has to go to a Chinese restaurant. “Deck the haws with bows of horry, fa ra-ra-ra-ra , ra-ra-ra-ra!” lol. Tell your friends I said ‘Hey”…have a fun night with your pork belly. Pao…lol. (btw, I was in NO way making fun of the Chinese…it was in the movie)
Hey Sharona. I downloaded several movie/screeners today It was unbelievable how many screener is out there on Pirate bay before 2016. I have Revenant, and Tarantinos Hateful eight? In theaters on Jan 2016. Crazy huh? I also have Sicario and The Walk. Which one should I watch first?..I’m a Tarantino fan/Pulp fiction. I like dark humor. I also like all the Scorcese movies. What kind of movies you like?

I love Tarantino—wasn’t fond of Kill Bill Vol. 1&2, but I’ve seen ‘Pulp Fictiona at LEAST 15 times…”Django Unchained” 5 or 6 times, and my all time fav :”Inglorious Basterds” probably 30 times (no lie). The very first scene with Christoph Waltz (when he’s interrogating the Frenchman) is one of the most brilliant pieces of cinematography EVER! Can’t wait to see “Hateful Eight”—Samuel L Jackson (I have a feeling) is going to steal that film.
I’m not familiar with “The Walk” —oh wait, isn’t that with Joseph Gordon-Levitt? Where the trapeze artist walks from one building of the World Trade Center to the other one? That looks pretty interesting. I don’t know anything about “Sicario. Since I’m not familiar with that one, watch it first, then you can tell me about it. :)
Don’t even get me started about Scorcese movies! I’ve see almost every single one. Can’t count how many times I’ve seen “Goodfellas” or “Casino”, “Taxi Driver”, “Cape Fear.” I’m in love with Robert DeNiro, so I mostly see the shows that star him (and Pesci). But I have seen almost ALL the movies he’s directed. Love them–DeNiro & Scocese.
“Bizarre Foods” can be seen on the Food Network; the Food Chanel; and some times TLC…and another one that I can’t remember. You HAVE to watch that. Especially the ones from 2008-til now.

No, he doesn’t have his costume BUT I came across a print of a painting by Van Gogh called “The Zouave” which actually looked like dad…so much so, that it could have been him sitting for the portrait. So I had it framed and gave it to him one year for Father’s Day.

Christmas was not the best, we had no power, no water NOTHING. The turkey was cooked in a fire pit and the veggies on the BBQ…I am so happy to be home sweet home.

I read a bunch of stupid comments on Yahoo about how lousy “Hateful Eight” was….but I think they were a bunch of 12 year old boys, sitting around while their parents were out getting liquored up. Ok, Hateful 8, It has violence, slapstick and of course shock. You know how he starts the story sometimes in the middle/towards the end and goes back to the beginning, and progresses to the final act, with a nasty punch line. That’s Tarantino. lol (N) word is the dominant epithet in the film. Lots of them. Jackson and Dern’s confrontational dialogue is shocking. It’s not Pulp/Django, but I enjoyed it. I really like Benecio del Toro’s “Sicario”…. riveting!
How can you not memorized “Ding ding dang..ding ding dang” (Jingle bells, jingle bells) lol so repetitive.

Since you’re so good at photo-shopping, you actually COULD take over his job. You write just as well and clever as he does– (maybe even better)..JUST KIDDING MATT {no i’m not–i’m whispering} and your graphics would be undetectable from the real thing.
